I'm just pointing out Chicago gets Pentagram before Roch...but that's due to the distributor here in Roch, not Surly

I would hazard a guess that Chicago is also a more lucrative market -at the moment, at least- than Rochester.

    From Four Firkins

    WARNING:
This is a sour beer, and is not for everyone. I am not using reverse psychology here, I want to make sure the people who love this sort of beer are able to get their hands on it. Please don't buy this beer if you do not enjoy sour flavors!

Why would someone get a beer they don't like? Just to keep it from those people that love this sort of beer? Firkins continues to baffle me at times.

    To trade?

Probably also for people who like Surly but have no idea what Pentagram is.

Well, if they trade it, then someone who loves it will still get their hands on it

They had that warning for Five and last year's Pentagram.

Also Mgm Eagan and Cub Rosemount had Darkness for $18.99. It wasn't 20 plus everywhere.

If everyone could just get their Surly products from Total Wine everyone would be happy. I wonder what they priced Pentagram at.

Man my buddies and I must be in some sort of major minority. Had multiple vintages of Abduction at the Darkness Day Bottle share, got a Abduction Coffee as an extra in an IP trade at Darkness Day as well. All of those just were not good, the coffee was relatively fresh too, didn't sit on it very long to make sure. I do admit though I won't be paying $20 for Darkness again, ok I will for 1 so I can do a 5 year vertical next year and then it's just on tap for me. Unless I find some crazy ass trade offer. I will be just brewing my own beer and working on my quality there which so far this year has worked well for me and kept more money in my pocket (ok well actually in my Student Loan holder's pocket as I am trying to pay those off within 20 years).

I haven't had anything but Darkness and Abrasive, so my opinion is probably a little colored, but those 2 are both well worth the money, so I would imagine they'll be fine if they keep pumping those out. With that said, I haven't tried Furious, so I don't know if that one is worth it (nor can I speak to it not being as good as it used to be). But 2 world-class beers is probably enough to keep them in a beer market that is exploding.

I am disappoint whenever I read one of your posts that doesn't reference your Chocolate Mexican Angel Cake Flourless Chile Habenero In Demand Stout. I was 100% sure that's where this post was going. Lost that bet to myself.

If it pleases you I just started kegging and kegged a fresh batch of the Chocolate Habenero In Demand Stout :-D (had to shorten the name so after a few you an still remember part of it) this time another friend commissioned it for me and it is even better than last time. A lot more chocolate and I cut back the heat in the tail end a bit. I am close but not there yet, I am going to work on the body next time.

I would guess its for people that don't know what they're getting and will end up being disappointed, plus someone else that's disappointed they couldn't get Pentagram. For the most part I always know what I'm buying, but occasionally if I'm out somewhere and don't have cell service or my phone is dead or whatever I'll take a flyer on something I don't recognize, especially if its from a brewery that I like. I'm guessing there are others out there like that as well.

Lake wine has a bunch for 19.99. No Limits posted that I noticed. Hoarders get at it

Why? They are new to the beer industry and have made mistakes along the way. Cut them some slack. if they want to anger their base let them.

Just bustin' your nads a little. If you ever want an unbiased & honest opinion on your In Demand Stout, I'll be happy to provide one. Huna is one of my all-time favorite beers.

Hard to go wrong with Huna seriously. Man I was bummed this year's Huna day was a disaster because my ability to get one is a bit trickier and I am lazy :stuck_out_tongue:

I don't know what I'll have left after I give my buddy who paid for it's portion, but it's on deck to be brewed again soon as yet another friend commissioned another batch after I do my Rhubarb Wheat where I plan on experimenting with wild yeast.
