Well, that all depends. The regular cans sell decently. Darkness flew off the shelves in hours. Months later Smoke is still everywhere here. That could be because of the price point but it is more likely because it is a smoked beer (I love smoked beers but the majority of the beer community does not). We'll see what Pentagram does, but I suspect the price will make it sluggish but I predict it won't last a week. I still see 4-packs of Abrasive around. I think that was a combination of getting it late and the $18.99-$19.99 price tag. Despite the price, I'd buy the shit out of it if it wasn't 100+ days old at this point.

Besides Abrasive, I actually think Overrated is the best Surly offering (I've had Bender, Coffee Bender, Hell, Furious, Darkness, Pentagram, Blakkr, CynicAle, Mild, and Schadenfreude).

For the record, Pentagram is $25.99-$26.99 here. Basically a few cents shy of $30 after tax.

No way would I pay $30 for Pentagram. I thought it was pricey when it cost me $22 last year(after tax).

I agree 30$ is way too much, but what shelf are people getting these 3F and Loon bottles off of? I understand that you can order the stuff online but if you want a good sour that you want to possess in the next 2 weeks without buying in bulk those aren't really viable options.
In reality it's a good, local, sour that's cheaper than any number of sours out there, that you don't have to ship for. Except for for you Chicagoans, you got screwed.

Unfortunately they had to pull it from the shelves...it was mislabeled as a bourbon barrel aged coffee stout.

Well, $17 and change if you want to be exact, and you need a minimum 20 kilo order to get shipping costs down, so you have to spend like $220 in one order. If you split it up with a couple friends you can get your individual cost down to a 'healthy' yet normal beer run. This is why I havent bought any expensive sours in a while.

If you can get beer shipped from Belgium for $17/bomber, anything more than that locally is just price gouging. People must pay it, because it seems to be the new acceptable sour pricing. I must be in the minority...

Ha ha, I wish. The store that does that will dominate the sour market here. I know its more hassle to ship it in, but Im a guezue/lambic head, and its hard to beet the belgian main stays, especially when we rarely or never see the big boys here (like Giradin, Cantillon, 3F, or De Cam)

I find myself looking at things like the cisco sours or pentagram, then putting the $22 back in my pocket. a couple times a year ill do a big sour order from belgium.Ill hit you up next time I do one.

And I love pentagram! I just wish it was $12-15 instead of 20-25. They could put it in a can instead of their fancy waxed bottle. That would shave a buck or 2 wouldnt it? Westbrook Gose doesnt tast any worse cause its in a can
