I must say this one looks pretty good. Their regular Double IPA isn't the greatest so I am hoping for an improvement with this one. Hopefully it isn't too fruity though.
Local Fields Essence to be Released in 22oz Bottles

Hangar 24′s first 22oz. bottle release in the Local Fields Series is set for Saturday, June 2. The debut of our packaged Local Fields beers features Essence, a Double IPA brewed with navel oranges, blood oranges and grapefruit.
We feel the name Essence is so fitting as this beer represents not only the “Essence” of Southern California (fresh, local citrus in a hoppy IPA) but it also represents the “Essence” of Hangar 24 and how combining citrus with beer has fueled our success. We source the best fruits from the top farms in the Redlands area to bring you this one of a kind drinking experience.
For Essence’s complete profile, including ABV and pairing recommendations, please click HERE.
A limited amount of Essence will be available in the Tasting Room on draught and in 22oz bottles beginning Saturday, June 2 at 11am. (Local Fields beers are brewed only once per year and they don’t tend to last long!) Southern California distribution of Essence will begin Monday, June 4. Very much looking forward to this one - I actually really like their DIPA. On another note - the next barrel roll beer is supposed to be released in June (according to their calendar) and I haven't heard a word. Anyone know anything?

I'm a little skeptical about this, add citrus fruit to an IPA? The art of brewing a good IPA is getting those flavors from the hops alone, not by add fruit. Not saying this might not be the best IPA I've ever tried, but it just seems to me like cheating.

As long as they don't overdo it on the fruits. Like for instance Dogfishead and Aprihop; that to me tastes like an IPA with just a touch of apricot which is good to me. If they go along those lines they will fine.

Yeah I really liked Hammerhead but still haven't tried Pugschev's cobra yet. I wonder what they will be barrel aging this time? I know they are also brewing their collaboration beer with the Bruery; interested to see what that is going to be.

hangar 24 is a good, under the radar brewery. they've only relatively recently started pandering to the beer geeks but i've liked most everything they have brewed, including their double which is outstanding if you get a good, fresh batch.

I agree with this. Their DIPA has quickly become one of my favorite DIPAs. When fresh it is pretty amazing.

I think H24 is decent...somethings are very underwhelming....but Pugachev's is truely something amazing. To my knowledge, there is a barrel roll in the works that is their Polycot aged in barrels with the sour bacteria they used for the Humpty Bump. I'd be interested in drinking an Apricot sour from them.

That is disappointing because it seemed like a good idea but perhaps they added too many oranges? A double IPA without much hop flavor is not a double IPA in my opinion. Maybe they should have marked this as an IPA although it's 8.5 so they really can't.

@BeerGuyLA - So I am assuming it is more of a sweet IPA?
