Nice assessment. I, personally, feel like Westbrook's Gose is heavy-handed and overdone for the style (just like so many other U.S. "craft" attempts at German styles). But, hey, if people like what they are tasting, who am I to argue? (Answer: no one, in case you didn't check @cavedave's post, above.)

I still want to try it, and considering the price I'm sure I can enjoy it for what it is (although it would still have to be of a certain quality first). That's the question, though- do you look at it as a 'great Gose' or simply a 'great way to spend 10 bucks or so on a sixer'.

If I didn't know what a Gose should taste like, maybe the latter. However, there are *much* better ways to spend $10 on a six pack IMO. If you want to try it, let me know. There are 6-packs stacked to the limit at my local Earth Fare and Whole Foods. Trade you for some Sunshine Pils or something....

And much worse, too, I suppose . This one has piqued my curiosity, so I do appreciate that offer. I think I'll sleep on it and get back to you, but I could definitely send you something you'd either enjoy or like to try. Hopefully both.

    True. Good point.

Just lemme know when you're ready. This will be waiting:

EDIT: before it came out in cans, no one's interest was really piqued, but, hey...gotta get the people's attention somehow....

Cool. The funny thing is- I can get Westbrook beers (just bought some IPA today, actually), including that One Claw pictured, but the Gose sells out so fast that I have never even come close to nabbing a sixer. I guess that feeds the mystique in my head.

The above pic was taken yesterday at my local Earth Fare. Saw the same scene tonight at Whole Foods. Maybe we are relatively hype free here?

Just to play off of the 'point of view' aspect of this previous post, but in regards to Berliner Weiss: I still think Prof Fritz is a tasty, enjoyable beer well worth the price of admission- even though I fully understand all of the knocks against it. I'm sure it could be better and more authentic, but those things aren't readily available on the shelf. Plus this is the only Berliner Weiss that actually brings me back to the days when I could grab a Kindl and Schultheiss off of the shelf of my local German butcher shop. There is something in there that's doing that, even though I do wish it were more sour.

    Hey there all you BAers,

What are your thoughts on some of the awesome Gose beers and Berliner Weisse beers that we've been seeing lately? Which of the two do you prefer, and why?

I came across a few articles with tasting notes:

This one has a history of the Berliner Weisse style and tasting notes on Prof. Fritz Briem, The Bruery's Hottenroth, Dogfish Festina Peche, etc:
    http://allaboutbeer.com/article/berliner-weisse/

This one has tasting notes on Anderson Valley, Westbrook, Choc (in Oklahoma!), etc:
    http://tempestinatankard.com/2014/0...valley-bayrischer-bahnhof-choc-and-westbrook/

What are some other beers you've had that these articles don't touch on?

    Cheers!
