Fantastic beer. As noted, it's the base beer for Ola Dubh 12, 16 18 and 30, which are OEO aged in Highland Park Whiskey barrels and are truly awesome beers (though pricey).

Its 5 bucks. You wont miss that one gallon of gas or Starbucks coffee. When in doubt about whether to spend that much on a highly rated beer, just do it.

My problem definitely isn't the five bucks. It's more a matter of do I want to spend five bucks on this beer/ is it so good and rare that I should just get the whole 6-pk? There are so many good beers out there, I have to ask if I really want to buy this one, since my cellar is already overflowing, and I limit myself to about 4-5 beers per week. Alternatively, if the beer is both rare AND great, then i'll just get the whole pack, save it, trade with it, or give it friends, etc.

I also wanted to price check on here, since I didn't want to be overcharged at a liquor store I didn't know.

If you ever want to work out a beer trade... I have easy access to Engine Oil and Engineers Reserve Engine Oil, in singles! Personally, I usually skip OEO for Founders Porter or GLB Edmund Fitz, but the few times I picked it up, it certainly did not disappoint! World class stout/porter for sure. :grinning:

And people all over BA complain about Ten Fidy's price point. Worth it.

On vacation in Maine I saw Old Engine Oil for $4 a bottle. Seen it for about the same in NE Ohio.

Arguably one of the best dark beers you'll ever have. The name does not mislead.

I found it to be a pretty tasty dark ale/porter/stout. Many other reviewers think highly of it.

If in doubt, go "wild" and lay down a fin for a single. If you like, a six-pack at $25 seems reasonable.

Thanks for the post:slight_smile: I agree with you- I liked Ola Dubh more than Old Engine Oil. Aroma and taste were great.

I agree...worth the money, I've had most of the Ola Dubh's and they are a top notch product with a flavor profile you don't get from anything else. Smokey, peaty very unique!

One of the best English beers that I have had. It runs $24 a sixer here, but I only ever buy a bottle or two.

A thick, black brew with porter at its soul. An excellent brew, especially on draft. I last had a pint nearly a year ago in Edinburgh, Scotland. On a cool and rainy June afternoon in Edinburgh not far from the Royal Mile, it was the perfect brew.

It's not so big on B/A for a couple of reasons. One, it is widely available and two, it's not a domestic. I'm all for supporting beers from the US of A, but there are seriously good beers that get panned for those reasons

Think of this as the European Ten Fidy and enjoy.

I used to be able to get this in St. Paul...but was told that it was not longer available after a distributor stopped carrying it. I have never tried over in the Minneapolis area to find it. That price seems ridiculous to what I paid for it! I do not recall the price, but nothing near that! Regardless...it is simply stellar!

Good beer, but Engineer's Reserve is better in my opinion.
