My buddy called me last Saturday afternoon saying that a FW Rep was at our local Costco with pallets of Wookey Jack, Double Jack and a limited amount of Parabola. $11.99 for Parabola. Man! I practically shit my pants when I heard him tell me that. I asked him to get a case for me, but he didn't have enough cash. NOO!!!!!! Couldn't make it to Costco that day but went the next day, briskly walked to the beer section, saw the Parabola sign for $11.99 but no little brown boxes in sight. Asked one of the workers but they were all sold out. :slight_frown: Well, my buddy grabbed me 2 when he was there and I was pretty happy with that. Just wanted to share. Cheers!

This is a sign of something, I'm just not sure what.

It's crazy that they sell it at lower rates in Costco in CA whereas retailers in other markets jack up the price and they still can't keep it in stock. I've been keeping an eye out for Parabola and Double Jack, but nothing :slight_frown:

It's a sign that some costco's know how to get ahold of good beer.
My local costco's only sell BMC/ Mexican Import, and perhaps some Sierra Pale or Pyramid Variety Packs.

Costco sells everything at razor thin margins.
I don't shop there. So I don't know what theycarry as far as craft beer goes. But they. 3e the countryaks largest retaiorof wine.
Many wineries sing Costc's praises for introducing quality wine to the masses.

Seriously? Wow. I know my Costco gets cases of SN Torpedo and that's as far as they go for craft beer. I can't imagine seeing a case of Parabola– that's so awesome.

Last time I was at Costco I was able to pick up a mixed 24 pack of Two Brothers for 20 bucks. The six packs usually cost around 8 to 10. That has to be the best price for any barrel aged stout on the market.

Costco Visalia and Fresno (Blackstone & Abbey) each got 4 cases....sold at $11.59 a bottle, a steal of a deal... Not a ton of supply but great nonetheless...they went quick. Dbl Jack was $5.99 and Wookey was $4.59 which is pretty awesome too.

Schlafly Reserve Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout comes in 750ml bottles and is always $10.99. You can get a growler for around $13.

My local Costco carried the first release of Abacus. I bought a million bottles.

It's interesting to see that some Costco locations get great beer and others (like the ones near me) are complete duds.

The Sam's around me started selling 6 packs of craft beers, I found that pretty interesting since all they used to have were cases of BMC, I'm liking the direction they are heading.

The warehouse stores selling craft is a sign of the trend toward craft beer. They're not ahead of the curve by any means, but a place like costco is driven by selling large quantities of things at low margins, and it's now viable for them to do it with craft. it's awesome

Costco nationally seems great, to the local businesses it is a deathnell. I have a card through my employment, I only use it for work purchases. I would prefer to put my money into local/regional business than Costco. Good Beer can be found with much greater ease and selection at other places.

This is why I am proud to say that I was an employee of Costco many years! :grinning:

The health benefits, the 401k plans, great starting pay, and meeting Jim Seagal, the president and owner. As well meeting famous people( this was in Sterling Virginia Costco). Now that I see they carry beer, is more of what I loved about Costco, getting the best deals and best quality to the member! :grinning: \m/
