no trying to tell you what to do, but based off the beers you liked and the ones you didnt appreciate, I do not feel that this one will be up your alley, I would either trade it if i were you or gift it to someone who appreciates sours, its not super sour, but it def has more than the beers you mentioned that you did enjoy, espcially the 8.5% version, just my two cents

I appreciate the honesty. My brother in law is big into sours and I'm gonna prob hang out with him on Sunday so I'll split with him and if I don't like it, I'll just give him my share.

I think the 750s (1st batch) had the higher APv. The last release was in 500ml

I think it's the best (non stout) prairie

I would throw a beer tasting for All you could drink Huna ( no I don't have that much Huna, speakingif hypothetical) if it was only 80 here.

Drink it. It's good. That's what it was made for.

    This.

The 750 ml & the 500 ml are two different batches.
Wine Barrel Noir was 9% in 750 ml but now it's 10%. Enjoy it, though, OKC didn't get that release.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this style of beer, but does the age hurt or help in this case?

Prairie beers have been best for me 2-3 months after release.
Their house yeast strain contains Brett, Wine, & Belgian ale yeast,
So it needs longer in the bottle to condition to develop the flavors they strive for.
Like Orval; I wouldn't age it longer than a year; because after a few months It has enough Brett presence w/out overshadowing the loads of dry hops they lay on it.
What you have is release #2. Not sure what states specifically got it, but Oklahoma City did not. . .

I think numerous Prairie beers have changed ABV, at least on the label. I recall that Prairie's brewer and owner posted that some of the early releases' label ABVs were calculated based on OG / FG. With limited distribution (mainly OK) at the time and most states not requiring ABV on the label, the OG / FG based ABV was acceptable. With wider distribution, some states (I'm looking at you Texas) probably required ABV to be accurately labeled so the subsequent releases were lab tested for ABV. I'm guessing this accounts for some of the ABV discrepancies. Puncheon specifically? No idea.

If you liked Tank 7, you will be fine with this. In my opinion, it's better...this will most likely send you on an entirely new path. There are some really wonderful Saisons/Farmhouse Ales out there.

Wow. I said it in the WBAYDN thread....pretty amazing, especially in this warm weather.
You get a nice hit of lemon, pepper and caper on the way down and this really nice Merlot hit with the finish. Happy I got it. Thanks for all the responses.

OP...you can definitely age Puncheon. Glad you enjoyed it. If you find Gold that one is fantastic. All of their stouts are wicked good as well.
