I saw this ad on my Facebook page and it looked interesting, but before i give them any of my info, i thought id check to see if any of you had any experiences with them. www.tavour.com here's what they say How it Works What to expect from Tavour everyday? Tavour is exclusive to its members and is simple to use. Here is how it works… We are not a beer of the month club. You only pay for the beer you chose over the course of the month. Accessing our lineup of delicious member-only beers is free. Just create an account Five days a week, we will introduce a beer that is making waves in your area in an email. If you are not seeing emails from us, check your junk-mail folder and add our email address to your address book. If you wish to purchase the beer – just reply to the email and tell us how many you want. For example, you can say “I want 4” - a live person processes each order so please share any other thoughts you have with us. We love to hear from you! Our relationship with award-winning craft brewers and distributors gives our members access to beers you cannot get anywhere else. Your beer arrives fresh every few weeks (giving you enough time to fill a box and pay the least shipping cost).
Sounds interesting but wouldn't want to sign up without seeing what they have to offer- any members care to post a list?
A sample of the last few days: Death of a Contract Brewer: $7.98 a 22 Nogne India Saison $9.99 for a 500 Freigeist Geisterzug $7.49 for a 500 Speakeasy Vendetta IPA $7.79 for a 22 Base Camp Lost Meridian $5.99 for a 22 Trois Pistoles for $8.99 for a 750 So not a lot of crazy exclusive stuff. I'm not sure if the prices are good or not. I think it's more meaningful for people not in close proximity of good beer shops. Their initial plan, which was more interesting, was to buy kegs from beweries of things that weren't otherwise bottled / canned and then sell those. For example, they sold bottles of Boneyard Hop Venom and RPM in their early days. I'm not sure if they still plan to get back to that idea, but THAT was business I'd be very excited about.
Yeah, it's basically stuff you can get at the bottle shop down the street. I was also excited about them talking about bringing in out of area bottles, but it just hasn't happened. Maybe with expansion they can grow into being more than what they are currently.
Do you mean the beers themselves are awful or just not unique enough? As I said, I think it's a better fit for people in places without good distribution. I don't know what you can and can't get in the middle of nowhere ... and if it's there, has it sat on shelves for an eternity? I think their shipping is pretty affordable. I think there's a person this could work for ... but it's not me / you / many of us. Again, I REALLY hope they get back to counter pressure filling and capping bottles from odd kegs. Seems like a cool model both for consumers an for small breweries that can't afford to bottle / distribute everything ... or for releases that are small batch enough that there's not enough for mass distribution.
Not unique enough. If you want me to use a service like this, then the offerings need to be enticing. I'm not just saying this as somebody spoiled in Southern California, but I question if there's a beer on that list that would excite somebody. Base Camp would be the least distributed beer on the list, and I doubt that would make anyone want to use the service - especially for a Wit.
This is actually a really neat service considering what it is, what they do, and how they do it. What fsck said above about how they're basically stuff that you can get down the street at a local bottle shop is only partly true. People who live on the west coast sometimes forget that you can't get a lot of these brands east of us, even as near as Arizona. If you live in Seattle or San Diego, sure maybe you don't necessarily want to get involved in a mail-order beer service but for a ton of people across the USA? Heck yeah! For virtually the same cost as a bottleshop, you can get it delivered straight to your door. Really, this is entirely cool for 80% of America who doesn't live in metropolitan west coast beer mecca. Those of you not living in Washington State looking for coveted Sound Brewery beer? Yeah, this is how you're going to get it. I'm ordering my Sound Sommerweizen from them as we speak. Again, if you live in metro beer mecca, this might not be perfect for you, but if you live somewhere else where the only store near you is a supermarket with lame selection, the convenience of this service is pretty darn cool. Especially for lazy people, and lets face it, we're all a lil lazy sometimes, right? Hah. Cheers
For the most part, I can't find any IPA they have in stores here (beer central SF Bay Area), which is why I use them. With one exception they have all been good, some of them (e.g. Valiant Alpha Drive) exceptional. They don't seem to have as many IPAs this month compared to last.
I like how the signup window sits there and prevents you from doing anything else on the website after the 5-10second leeway. Sure I could turn on noscript, but this website is trying to force my hand.
Too much work. I am just deeming the site too much of a hastle and until I can browse the selections I will just act like it doesn't exist I don't really care if they have somewhat common beers. If they are a better price than I can get elsewhere, it is a good program
Used it a few times and enjoyed it. There's not a huge selection..they mail you a new beer they have a day...you reply to email, "I want two" they put it in your "box". Two days later another peeks your interest repeat the process, it adds to your box. Now your box has a date it is set to be shipped, usually a month or so out, so you can get a good chunk of beers if you want, and get it shipped for $15. 1 beer or 14 beers, its $15. Only buy what you want, though, not everything is available for long...sometimes there will be beers emailed a few days before still up for purchase, sometime next day it's nits, assuming it sold out. Nothing crazy rare, but nab stuff that sounds interesting not available here in so cal.
been using it for about 3 months now..... good way to spend your money quick lol.... decent selection seems like they have been expanding outside of the west coast recently. The last few weeks they offered Le petit prince from jester king which was kinda cool to see. Overall its cool if u wanna try stuff you dont normally see. I think its worth trying out at least for 1 month. Oh and now that they have an app its makes it way easier to order.
I've been using them for about 9 months now and really like the service. It's unique from other mail order beer services out there in that you are on the hook for nothing. Sign up for free, get an account without any requirement to purchase a beer. I've enjoyed the ability to get beers that either aren't at my local bottleshop or are gone before I'm able to get my hands on one. The prices seem right in line with the bottleshops in the area, from what I've seen. Picked up a bomber of barrel aged B.O.R.I.S. recently for $15 that I can't wait to enjoy. I do live in the Seattle area so I chose the pick up option which means I don't ever pay for the beer to be shipped. And yes, Seattle sales tax sucks, but I pay it anyway, no matter where I shop so the downfalls don't seem prominent to me.
I keep seeing facebook ads that have Fremont Brewing's barrel aged stuff. I think it's either Dark Star or Abominable. I would totally buy those, but not sure if it's just a trick to lure me in....
I get the daily emails, and have ordered some stuff on my friends account. You only have to pay once you order something, so if you're not interested in that days brews, ya just delete the email, and go on your way. They do offer a lot of PNW brews that are easily accessible for me, so there's not much incentive for me on a lot of things. But, they do offer up some interesting stuff sometimes, and it's free to window shop, so what the hell? Their service is good, and if you know you're going to be in Seattle, you can just go pick your box up.
