Would have loved a midweek release or a locals only or state membership program. Just an idea.

People seem to hate locals only release more than anything. What do you mean I live 10 states away and I can't come to the release. You guys suck

Then people cry when there is no special beers. If you did it all the time it wouldn't be special.

I, for one, am pretty excited to see a local beer get this type of excitement. Seems like just a few years ago, we only had Palmetto, Southend, and T-Bonz. My how things have changed.

I think today went pretty smooth, but seeing how many people showed up. There's no way I'll be there for BA Cakes.

Mike, any idea if Edward has considered a locals only membership?

Hopefully not, I don't mess with the bottle releases since it's a hell of a lot easier to just have it on draft.

I should've phrased it better. I meant if they were all done bottling it or not.

FYI, last year I walked in at 4 pm on the release day and there was only one other person in the brewery. I think the brewery planned to sell beer starting at opening time until there was no more beer. It sounds like they adjusted according to the crowd and covered about 200 customers. I don't see the issue.

Well, that was one hell of an evening. I spent two hours driving down from Columbia as soon as I got off work and it was sold out by the time I got there (around 6pm). I ended up chatting with a really cool couple from NY at the bar and they let me buy one of their bottles (they only had 2) so that was super nice of them. I did enjoy an 8oz glass at the bar as well, and it's damn tasty. Really pissed at driving all that way though and leaving with one bottle. Hopefully it hits distro before I fly back to CO next week.

Well if it's gonna be like that this year. Piss on even attempting to find it locally once it hits. The asshats locally will make a huge deal about releasing it. I've never had it so here's to someone well outside of the distributions to trade me a bottle. Hah!

Yeah I was chatting with the owner of a bottle shop down in Charleston after I left the brewery and he basically said when he gets his allotments it was going in the back and he'd let his regulars have first crack (which means they'll get it all).

There is a limit in bottle shops. Likely one, not your 6.

Yes. Last year release was nothing. At opening there were 2 people here. Obviously this year would be bigger but you don't know til it happens. If they had posted "bottle limit tbd upon amount of people who show up" people would have bitched cause they want a number. So you give a number and then you have to change it so more people get beer and you are pissed. If someone can give me a release that makes everyone happy everywhere and we will talk.

I had a friend send some people up from Atlanta today, but called them midway and said to give up, it was gone. Figured that was the case. I understand people getting upset for driving long distance for nothing, but shit, everyone knew it was a super hyped up, super limited release. If you weren't there at opening time, you really have no reason to bitch, because you knew what you were in for. We all knew it'd be gone before the day was out, right? I sure as hell did and I'm not even in the know at all about the batch size, case limits, or anything, but it's blatantly obvious it'd be gone fast so there was no point in trying to get it. Anyone mad has no business being mad at Westbrook. Be mad at yourself for not being there with bells on when they opened the doors.

The BA Cake release last year? Who didnt leave that event happy, it was pretty damn perfect for a beer release.
