I wish I could find it again but I picked up a bottle of Rye Day the 13th from Excel while in St. Louis a few months ago and loved it. I shared it with a few friends and we were all very impressed.

Black Market Brewing in Temecula has a great rye beer, Rye IPA, love it. Best rye beer I have had. Really good on a hot day, refreshing.

I loved it too, even more than Boulevard's Rye-on-Rye.

recently had Southern Tier 2xRye and Founders Red Rye. Believe me I was totally underwhelmed by both.Especially the Red Rye.I will have to visit this beer again.Maybe an old batch.Supposed to be a killer beer.

Those are both out of season. 2xRye is in the fall, and Red's Rye is Dec-Feb.

Like I said before, it doesn't sound like you necessarily like rye beers (yet, maybe). Rye of the Tiger is a rye IIPA, and I'm assuming you hardly taste the rye in it like every rye IPA I've had. I imagine 2xRye probably tastes mostly like rye at this point, so it doesn't sound like you're a fan of rye beers. Founders Red's Rye is one of my favorite beers, but even fresh I would never say rye is showcased- the caramel malts and amarillo hops shine. The rye just brings out the caramel malts.

So, I bet you'd be a lot happier figuring out what hops are used in Rye of the Tiger, and finding IPA's with a similar hop bill. Cheers

Love me some Ruthless Rye and Founders Red Rye (and the BA version is amazing). Rye D'Tiger from 3F was pretty solid.

I'm shocked at the number of people comparing Sucks to Rye of the Tiger. While I've never tried them back to back, I absolutely LOVE Sucks, but despised RotT both times I've had it (once on tap, once in bottle). RotT just came across as a lot of unpleasant bitterness for the sake of bitterness, unbalanced, with a funky aftertaste.

Yards Rye is solid and can definitely taste the rye in it, and Full Pint Rye Rebellion is a pretty good local rye brew from PA

Road Warrior is the best I've had yet, love the dryness the rye brings to the beer. I was a bit disappointed with the Founders, especially since I heard that it is what is the popular beer for the employees to drink... But hey, what do I know except what I like.

I read about 20 replies and only seen one SN Ruthless Rye reference so I going to say it again. One of my favorite SN brews and a good spicy rye heavy beer.

It's sitting on shelves at $23 a bottle here. It's good but that's a lot for 1 beer in a smaller craft beer community.

Red's Rye IPA and Divided Sky Rye IPA are my favorites.

I'm shocked at your post. I feel precisely the opposite. To me Sucks is a bit too true to its name to be funny, & Rye of the Tiger is one of my top 5 rye beers (& I've had a lot of them!). Just goes to show you can't please everyone all the time.

2XRye is delightful, I think. So was boulevards rye on rye. Such a difference in the rye beers from one to the other.
