Anyone that answers #1 or #2 and has been at this for only a few years is a nut, because that means there are way too many "regular" release beers you haven't tried prior to closing off your judgement. You never know, one of those "shelf" dwellers might actually blow your mind. :grimacing:

I'm one of those. I checked that not because I don't drink shelf beer, but because the question is so silly that I too chose to be silly.

Looking at your ratings, the majority of what you have rated are shelf beers or fairly easy to obtain and you only have 6 total beers that you have deemed to be 'below average'. You just seem to overrate everything so it's no surprise that you would also overrate rarity as quality that makes beer enjoyable.

Sure I've had a lot of shelf beers. Now I'm ready to expand my horizons.

To be fair, one of those votes was me trying to be ironic

EDIT: Rekrule beat me to it. :stuck_out_tongue: Your argument is looking worse and worse by the minute, guy.

With beer, I think the best way to figuratively expand your horizons is to literally expand your horizons.

    Ready your passport.

You guys voting for whalez ironically are just as misunderstood for you high brow comedy as those calling beers shelf turds though most are as far from being "turds" as can be.. BAs of a feather flock together I suppose.

Find a better bottle shop. :stuck_out_tongue: But seriously, what defines "shelf beer"? There's usually something out there on the shelf that's enjoyable, I share your enthusiasm but it's a fine line that teeters on "beer snarkery".

Pics of the whales you've been drinking? Exactly :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, I'm confused. Last I remember, was a thread you made bashing 4 Hands for their $10/4 price. Yet, now you're stating they are a go-to. What caused your opinion to change?

Almost every time I drink. Shelf beer is as good or better than "special beer" at least 8 out of 10 times.

All we have around here is shelf beer. Beer warm or cold being sold on a shelf. Unless you want "floor" beer I see no other way in purchasing said beer.

Even if you buy floor beer it usually ends up on the shelf in your fridge.

Just out of curiosity, how long have you been drinking craft beer?

I would never bash 4 Hands. Their 4 packs are $7.99 which is completely fair per the quality. The thread was geared at the concept of $10 4 packs in general (cough...Green Flash...cough)

Being "ready to expand your horizons" and the second answer to this survey are two different things. You've effectively started a thread to pump your own tires about feeling too good to buy most beers at the beer store. Good for you.
