You're flirting with me. I get it. I hear what you're saying.

I think the space looks great inside. And, thankfully, there is no view of Braddock from the bar. A real annoyance though is that I have to come through Turtle Creek to get there and the road in is a total disaster with all of the potholes.

They're definitely trying hard and have some unusual and creative beers on (which is way more than I can say for Hitchhiker and Grist). They're young and this is a big venture. For anyone their age it would be a challenge. Hell, for anyone twice their age with way more life experience it would be a challenge. It will be interesting to see how it goes for them.

I will definitely check out Hitchhiker when I get a chance. It seems, so far, like they'll be shooting for more of the "good examples of classic styles" type thing. I'm okay with that, as long as they are good examples.

Brew Gentlemen...I will give them a shot and be open-minded about it. That may be tough, considering the preconceived notions I've developed by following their Twitter feed for the last 1+ years.

As for Voodoo, it would be awesome to have even more of their stuff in Pittsburgh. I consider Voodoo and Fat Head's to be the two best "Pittsburgh" breweries...and if I told people from Northwest PA or Northeast OH that, they wouldn't agree

Looks like home brewers. Not much info except that they brewed batch 11. I guess we will see. Side note, sweet font, bleeding cowboy if anyone wondered...

Here are three others along a similar line for anyone that isn't aware yet:

Stellmacher Brewing Company. Sour beers, oh yes. And a really kick ass branding.

    Straw Bale Brewing

    Alley Brewing

Stellmacher's aim isn't to open a commercial brewery. He hopes to consult/collaborate with established brewers on creating sours. Seems to have a pretty good knowledge of all kinds of fermentation.

It's getting released today. I am heading over there in about 10 minutes. If anyone is there and wants to say hi, I'll be the big blonde guy in a red polo and khakis.

So I got to try it myself. I am not a huge saison fan but this was quite good. Definitely recommended.

Had it on Saturday. Really solid and very drinkable. Sweet with nice barrel notes. Too bad it is only one barrel and won't last long.

No, I didn't try it. I do recommend the Pacific Ring IPA which is excellent and The Commoner which is a pale ale fermented with California Common Steam yeast. It has a nice creaminess to it.

What's up with the "Bottle Releases" events he's throwing out on facebook? Surely he can't be selling anything beyond "consulting services".

I haven't been to any but have talked to those who have. He announces them, people show up, he gives away bottles of his beer.

Yep, I went to the last one and got a white grape sour and a cider. Both were decent. I may go grab the next one because you know, free beer.

as promised, we have definitive information about pittsburgh. we have purchased the old fire station in homestead. our intentions are to fill growlers and sell bottles to go. there are no plans at this time for on site consumption or a pub. if you know the building, you know it's going to need a lot of work. we don't have a timeline on when we'll be open. that's what we know as of right meow.

Anyone know anything concrete about Spoonwood Brewing or their product? Apparently they are opening a brewpub in the suburbs of Pittsburgh (Bethel Park/South Park area) sometime in the fall of 2014. I live in the area, and would LOVE to have a decent brewpub that close.
