I second the Imperial Bottle Shop rec. They CO2 purge and cap bottles from draft to-go. They have a few interesting hop forward beers from some very solid breweries on tap right now, but nothing that he will probably know by name and that will check a box if you know what I mean.

They also have an ok sized bottle selection, so you could maximize your time if you saw something interesting on the tap list. Some that I would recommend.

Fort George OmegaTex (also if you see Vortex IPA by them, I would highly recommend it as what sometimes feels like a sometimes under-rated IPA)
Hop Henge (not sure if it makes it out that far)
Coronado Idiot IPA (not from Oregon but pretty sure you don't get it)

Doesn't fall under "hop-bomb" but definitely get him a bottle of Hair of the Dog Blue Dot

Also if you are lucky enough to be in PDX when Sticky Hands drops, there is no finer IPA around in my opinion

    Crux off leash
    Ft George 3 way
Green Flash Palate Wrecker is also around town

Boneyard and Barley Browns are phenomenal but as others have said, Growlers only.

Good luck. Plenty to choose from in PDX !

I agree with my fellow Drew, gobigvt7, and would add that a fresh batch of Elysian Dayglow will be available at that point and is tasty.

I am a business traveler and majority of the time it's cheaper to ship. Plus I've had more experiences with destroyed bottles in checked luggage. Sometimes the 2nd piece of checked luggage costs $30+, meaning paying a little bit more than that would cover the shipping cost of two shippers. I get my first checked bag for free, so I print a UPS label for anything more.

When I'm travelling for business, I usually have everything in a carry-on anyway. My free checked bag is almost always beer.

(Also, if I'm honest about weight, or if FedEx re-weighs things, there is no fucking way I can ship 2 12-bottle shippers anywhere for $30. Maybe you have some awesome discounted company account you can ship under, but normal personal accounts aren't going to get a rate anywhere close to that.)

i do one-time online home delivery shipping with fedex (i.e., no account), and it's normally $20 or less every time.

Quick quote of 42 lbs (no dimensional weight) from my zip code to the same zip code without an account is $19.78. If you're actually getting charged for the weight of a 12 shipper, there's no way you're getting two of them anywhere for $30 unless you have a substantial company discount.

oh, < $30 total for two 12-shippers? yeah, that'd be ludicrous.

Oh no I'm certainly not claiming under $30. I'm estimating more like $34, $38 and I never put down the actual weight.
