Based on what the price of a sixer of Detour is costing in NB, what else are you guys being charged for Ontario beers out there? My brother and I are always going on about the price of good beers in Ontario constantly rising....$16.99!?

Juxtapose and good ol' Red Racer IPA, with as many lambics, gueuze, and saisons as possible! :-)

Detour is pretty good but I think I prefer Rhyme & Reason as far as sessionable, hoppy pale ales go.

Ontario's beer prices aren't that bad, relatively speaking. It's just that we're surrounded by Quebec and a bunch of US states, so the grass looks a lot greener elsewhere. For all of the recent rabble about unjust corporate monopolies and what-not, the rest of the country generally gets reamed a bit harder than we do.

Yeah, we've really just started getting Ontario craft in NB...for example, 473ml cans of Amsterdam Natural Blonde are $3.65 and Big Wheel are $3.75. Mad Tom is also $16.99 per six-pack. Various different Lake of Bays brews (750ml) are $9.99. Can't really complain to much, though, as I'd rather have the chance to try new things (even at a higher price) than not have the option at all. Red Racer IPA is readily available here for $3.65 for a 473ml can, which I think is the bargain of the century, compared to what our options were even a year ago!

Our local (Maritime) craft is pretty well priced, $12.98 for a six of Pump House, Propeller, or Garrison beers. Picaroons 500ml bottles are $3.80, but suffer from diacetyl issues.

New to me and probably Vancouver (at least BCL stores):

Hofbrau Munchen Maibock - Sipping on this now. I prefer this over probably the most popular maibock available in Vancouver (Dead Guy Ale).

Been around for a while but this is the first season I've seen it in BCL stores:

Red Racer Imperial IPA - ABV is too high for a session ale, but it is one of the more delicious IPAs I've tried.

My favourite from the last several years for this season:

Howe Sound King Heffy - An imperial hefeweizen and quite simply the most delecious example of the hefeweizen style I've ever had. Better than anything I tried in Germany, as well. Seems to be available in the specialty stores now, but I hope it comes to the BCL stores soon.

Any suggestions for a great session ales/lagers in Vancouver for the summer? I tend to lean towards higher ABV ales, but it would be nice to have something I can drink more off w/o wanting to take a nap afterwards.

Looking forward to buying some Maibock as that is a great and under seen style.

The guys at Collective Arts are destroying it right now. Saint of Circumstance hit the shelves in the last week or so in Ottawa and it's solid stuff. I've dropped far too much $ on their stuff lately and I can't see it slowing down this summer.

I'm planning to drink a lot of Anderson Valley's Gose. It's not the best Goose ever by any means, but price + availability makes it a winner.

Hey all I'm going to be in Quebec near Sherbrooke. Specifically on lake massawippi and was curious if anybody could point me to the best bottle shop in that general area where I can find DDC stuff. Would be awesome to get some of their collab beer with alchemist.

    Thanks

Well I started summer in Toronto this past weekend , (Sportsnet Diamond Daily winner)

with a visit to Bar Hop , (can't get good craft beer in Rogers Skydome) & truly enjoyed a Bellwoods 'Witchshark IPA'

butt if I'm going to pick a BC brew it would half to be Russell 'Hop Therapy ISA' such a damn easy drinking beer ,

looking forward to HOPoxia '4' @ Phillip's back parking lot tommorow , a beer fest dedicated exclusively to hoppy beers ,

28 of BC’s finest craft breweries will be on-hand to transform the Backyard at Phillips Brewing Co into hoppy beer heaven.

Bellwoods needs to make a Gose.
If I could get Westbrook by the case I'd be drinking it all summer.

That being said, the LTM Gose isn't terrible and I believe is available in 355ml bottles now.

A 12 pack of Red Racer ISA didn't last me very long, I could see myself drinking more under a hot sun.

It's out across the river (Gatineau) for $2.99/355ml bottle and is also part of the LCBO summer release. And you're right, it's mighty tasty!

^Couldn't agree more. @FondueVoodoo included as an extra in a trade (thanks FV!!), and thought it was really nice. Of course, there ain't no flies on Red Racer IPA either!

I personally wasn't as much a fan of the Red Racer ISA, much prefer their IPA.

I've had both and while the Westbrook was better, I do very much enjoy the 3m. Upright makes a very nice Gose (also one with white truffles) and Driftwood's seasonal Gose-Uh is pretty good as well.

Would be great to see more gose and berliner weisse.

The 8th and Cambie BCL has Hofbrau Maibock on their shelves right now. Is in green bottles but I heard from some who had it that it was not skunked.

EDIT: See @Decado1 mentioned this above already
