I saw a posting where SN (my favorite brewery out there) has received label approval for an Oktoberfest. I know they do a ton of brewpub-only releases, but does anyone know if this will be draft only or if they are doing a national release? Much appreciated.

    Cheers!

This is exciting news, I hope it's a national release. Like you, I love Sierra Nevada. I am also constantly in search for good session beers, especially session lagers.

Hope to hear more on this. Perhaps @sierranevadabill can chime in with some info. Thanks!

I'm guessing this is part of the fall variety pack. There are also labels for a Vienna lager and an updated label for the former fall seasonal Tumbler.

I know they have some locally-only distributed beers, and they have brewed an Oktoberfest for the pub in the past, but a new addition to their seasonals would be very interesting.

Vienna Lager and Oktoberfest in the same pack would make me very happy.

You and me both. A variety pack that is potentially half lagers puts a smile on my face.

Fatheads in Pittsburgh had the Oktoberfest on tap over a decade ago and it was very good. Have not seen it since. Would definitely like to drink it again along with trying the Vienna.

Sierra Nevada does not brew a lot of lagers but everyone they brew is top shelf. If they choose to brew an Oktoberfest I'm sure it will outstanding.

I really feel like Sierra Nevada could knock this one out of the park. It might be a bit more hopped-up than the traditional Oktoberfest style, but that wouldn't be the worst thing, given how well SN handles their hops.

I don't know, they keep the Summerfest at a pretty traditional Pilsner hoppiness.

It seems like adding hops to things is really the American way to brew, but when it's done to a beer style that's never been traditionally hoppy I don't think it really makes it better. Summit made a Fest beer for their Spring seasonal -- was a very good beer, but the hop bitterness took something away from it for me.

Remember that Sierra Nevada is opening or has opened another brewery in N.C. I thought I read somewhere they are going to be brewing mostly Pale Ale and Torpedo in the new facility for now so they've apparently freed some production space for new beers in Chico. Bring 'em on!!!!

Going by the label description, I wouldn't worry about it being overly hopped.

This will be a national release. We're doing a fall variety 12-pack this year which will feature: Pale Ale, Tumber (back from the dead) Vienna Lager and an Oktoberfest.
Both the Oktoberfest and the Vienna are pretty traditional examples of the styles (not IPAs you jokers!) and seriously good drinking beers. We'll be brewing all of the styles in both Chico and NC and should be widely available.

For what it's worth, I'm a big traditional lager fans, and I'm REALLY looking forward to having the Vienna and the Oktoberfest this fall. Game on!
