Sounds like a question for Jess Kiddin, but yes -- I believe the draft-only beers also need government approval. Kegs will usually have an I.D. label of some sort on their tops.

I had the SN Octoberfest beer last fall in Chico, it was a well made tradition Maerzen.

I'm stoked about this news! I rarely buy variety packs, but I LOVE the sound of this one. And to think... not a single IPA in the pack. How will it ever succeed?!

For sure! During the cooler months, I pay some good dollars to have GL Eliot Ness shipped here. Other than SA, which drinks a little too light for my taste, I don't know of a readily available VL in FL.

I already love Autumn weather and fall seasonals, but this has just jumped to the top of my list of things I'm looking forward to when the weather starts to get chilly. I love Sierra Nevada, I love lagers, and hey, I love SN Pale Ale, too. Excellent stuff.

Now Sierra Nevada can take all of my money. This will be so awesome. Loving the IPA pack but this one sounds even better! Can't wait to find out what the "Winter" one will be!

I should probably and adjust my budget to plan for this. It's going to be bad (in a really good way)

A Vienna and an Oktoberfest from Sierra Nevada....watch out Samuel Adams. There's not a SN I've had I didn't like, looking forward to the Fall.

You could make this statement more general. There's few malt forward beers in the US period. Helles, Marzen, doppelbock, quads, dubbels....this list could go on and on.

Summerfest is awesome and one of my favorite beers, Glissade was awesome as well (although I wish it would make a comeback, as I had it when I was just getting into craft beer and long before what I know now; would love to have it again with my more experienced palate), and seeing that everything SN does is of a high quality, I am sure this is going to be a home run and I will definitely be buying this pack (and another, and another...).

Also, in looking at the bigger picture, I am hoping that this is a sign of what's to come and the industry is starting to shift away from the constant onslaught of IPAs/super hoppy beers and is starting to branch out and explore other styles. For those that agree with me, vote with your dollars and be sure to support these beers when they arrive!

Disclaimer: I love me some hoppy beers on occasion and don't want them to go anywhere however, I feel that the market is a bit saturated and I would like to see some of the other styles that I adore and drink regularly be shown some love too, especially from a brewery like SN that could most certainly do a style justice!

So we should expect this... when? Mid- to late-July?

Fall beers are the one group of beers that I actually don't mind arriving early, as I love them so. While there was something a bit odd about drinking a pumpkin beer in July last year when the heat index was 100+F in my neck of the woods, I managed.

And while yes, the downside is that the Fall beers aren't around for as long as they once were and then the winter beers arrive early, but I don't mind that much either since I love many of them too.

It does require a keg tag approval, but only if it ships out of "house" so to speak. From my understanding, if it's something brewed and served in house, then it doesn't need approval for a keg tag.

I hope this is a huge success and opens the door to more variety packs like this. I hope everybody knows what to do...

“There's few malt forward beers in the US period.” I don’t understand that sentence. There are plenty of US craft brewed Stouts and Porters.

    Cheers!
