Last night my home brewed porter decided it wanted to explode in my basement. I lost all but one bottle of my remaining case. After cleaning up this disaster around 7:30 AM, I promptly took the lone surviving bottle, poured it into a snifter and enjoyed the hell out of it. I hadn't had my morning coffee yet, so the roasty and chocolatey porter was just what the doctor ordered.

Moral of the story: When life gives you lemons, catch a morning buzz.

Sorry for your loss! I've never had that happen, although I've brewed a couple that I wished it would have.

Its why I don't home brew, I'm not detailed enough, I'd skunk every batch.

Early brunch today - got to go to Erie and buy more beer, specifically something to put into my Duval snifter on Friday, before I drive to PGH tomeet my wife's flight - vacation will be over!

Yep - German Beer for Breakfast/Brunch continues and an excellent selection this was! Great appearance and great flavor, not to mention a pretty reasonable price - $ 3.69/330 mL.

Unfornately it didn't turn out well. It suffered loss of carbonation and it tasted slightly oxidized. I washed the taste out of my mouth with a Bell's Kalamazoo Stout. It helped a lot.

Oh, and it's been two and a half months since my last cigarette.

Infection? What is the temp of you cellar? My first batch I made in South Carolina had a majority of the bottles explode. After that I joined the Palmetto State Homebrewers club asked an ass load of questions, watched a few people brew & got much better. Hang in there!

Cleaning out the garage today, in anticipation of my new car - a Chevy Volt! Going electric, so I have to charge it all the time it's not in use. My garage hasn't seen a car in 20 years, can't believe all the junk in there!
Anyway, it's getting warm (80 degrees - a heat wave here!) so time for a beer break - rewarding my hard work with Another One. It's deeelicious!

In less than 12 hours, my wife and I will be heading to the hospital for an induction, and the birth of our first child. This calls for a celebratory beer.

I definitely prefer Yang, but both are pretty good offerings from Evil Twin -- one of my favorite breweries, for sure.

I have a bizarre work schedule today, where I'm basically spending many hours managing someone else's time for them. I'm pretty thrilled about that, and between that and other stressors, I'm in need of some serious relaxation along with a quick lunch.

    Collective Distortion DIPA

Man, this is a nice throwback! It reminds me of Ruination, with a huge bitterness that nowadays I rarely note in an IPA; yet, it's got some of that hop sweetness more in line with newer hop blends and profiles. I'm quite happy with it.

Predictive (Stone putting out another massive DIPA)? Sure. Very, very good? Definitely.

    Cheers!
