It will probably be a bit later in the year, but I think I'm going to follow this BIF up with one of my own (will be my first that is mine from start to finish)... I think I'm going to borrow @KevSal's style theme, but with Saisons...

I'll obviously ask again when I'm ready to do it, but just to get a head start, anyone interested?

Always interested. Anyone got some info on how well saisons age? Don't need to be add fresh as ipa, but how long is still good?

Based on history, I figure 6 months at least, since they were originally aged in caves before being given to the farmers, throughout the summer/harvest season no less, so nearly a year is probably ok.

"But IPAs were originally for long sea voyages and now need to be fresh" ..... ok, but what goes bad in IPAs is hops, not so much in saisons, and what goes stale in malty beers are the malt compounds, there's not a ton of flavor from that in saisons either, most of the flavor is derived from the yeast esters; which are not going to last forever, but they should be stable for a little while at least.

That sounds about right, I'm not sure what the timing will be, I'm thinking August with a September shipping window, I've got a lot going on from May/June, and I know the Mrs wants me to take a break, so that might be just right.

Definitely interested in the Saison BIF, we have some great saisons around here.

In other news, one of the local bottles I'll include in the box for my BCBBW mini-BIF can be found on today's receipt.

Distributor found a lost case hidden in the warehouse and sent it to the packy. There was some '12 BCBCS, but it was limited to one or the other, so I made my choice. This was a 2010 Vanilla.

For $14? I would've recruited as many as needed to clear him out of both coffee and vanilla, that's insane. (not for profit mind you, to enjoy myself and with friends)

We just had GI Migration here in Vegas and they were selling Vanilla for $60 a bottle and it still sold out in minutes.

Hmmm, that's going on here this week and the first event is a sampling at that very same liquor store tonight. I wonder if that's where the bottles actually came from.

I wouldn't be surprised. They roll with pretty good stuff. The bottleshop/tasting room I hang out at had BCBS 12, BCB BW, and Backyard on draft and the brewers from GI brought out a Rare to share with the group.
