I am one who's hoping for a Terreux only society, especially a Terreux Hoarder's Society with lots and lots of fruited sour varieties (and I'd say low bottle count for potential whalez but I still don't trade).

I'd be down for a modified RS that offers two overlapping pathways. For example, if you choose Terreux, you would have access to all of those beers, plus a smaller allocation of specific Bruery RS beers (Black Tuesday, for example). Any of the Bruery RS beers allocated to Terreux members that aren't sold could be sent back to those on the Bruery RS path for a second-chance sale.

    Best of both worlds, imo.

The beer was fine and has held up fine... but the truffle notes are overwhelming in this beer. One of those "let's make this beer wacky and different because that's what he do here!" moments instead of one of those: "you know what people like to drink? truffles. oh wait they don't? how about we choose some sort of other wacky salt that would actually work in this beverage, like smoked salt, or just good ole sea salt, or..."

I am hoping that if they split the societies they do something like this:

    RS – The Bruery Only
    RS - Bruery Terreux Only
RS – Combined (which looks much like the 2014 RS both in price and in variety)

Alternatively, maybe they will offer one RS membership, which offers a choice of bottles included in the membership ( Bruery only, Bruery Terreux only, or mixed ), while maintaining the same discounts and purchase allocations across both brands.

What would be really interesting is if they purchased a coolship for this new sour only venture and experimented with spontaneous fermentation. Though brewing the wort at a separate location may not allow for that, some of you may know better than I if that's a problem.

It'd be great if they split the cost and you could join one or both, kind of like De Garde. It'd be nice if you could spend the same amount and get allocations of a mix of bottles, or have your choice of joining one or the other. It'd solve all the problems of people complaining there's not enough sours and vice versa and wouldn't break the bank for current members who like it the way it is.

Why does everyone suddenly think they're splitting the membership? Nowhere does it even suggest that, yet everyone is already assuming it.

Mentioned a coolship to them on FB back when they were mentioning expansion plans back in February and they said they were playing with a very small one

It seems like there are enough people from two separate groups: those who 1) mostly prefer the sweet BA beers, and those who 2) mostly prefer the sour beers. So having two separate societies makes sense: they could charge $150 for each and everyone is a winner, since entry costs would be lower.

Honestly, because it would be a smart business decision. As pmarlowe just said, there are huge blocks of people who strongly prefer one or the other between the sour program and the BA strong ale program. If they structure the programs correctly as far as cost and purchasing options (ie, allow the sour members to purchase a bottle or two of the BA strong ales and vice versa), I think they'd manage to retain a number of people who are considering dropping their memberships due to lack of value in the current membership structure and beer portfolio.

If the Bruery leverages this announcement correctly - new wild ales with a focus on saisons, an end to blends that no one really wants like Bois Fume and Smooth Criminal, and a renewed commitment to quality control - they could mitigate a lot of the damage that they've done over the past 9 - 12 months and get a lot of people excited again.

It wont have any effect on this year's membership, but yeah, they'd be stupid NOT to offer a Terreux Society and a regular Bruery RS. With other options like both TRS and BRS both in one. Hoarders being another level of that.

Me too. I can appreciate a 750ml of a great sour for $17 more than a 750ml of a barrel aged stout for $30 or $35. I can trade for BCBS to get my BA stout fix.

Well im glad they finally decided to split the operations
I know i keep saying it, but in 20 years the idea of running a sour program of any substantial size within or even adjacent to some place that makes lots of beers intended to be non soured, will i think, be laughable.
Yes i know lots of places do it now but it seems theres more and more infections all the time.
I'm glad the Bruery made this choice.

They already did it in the first word? Might be a little redundant?

Their Designer needs to tone back the stroke on everything. Even "The Bruery" logo is improper due to the stroke being aligned inside rather then outside. Hopefully that's not a finished label.

Personally I like the style quite a bit but I agree that the Bruery logo itself is squeezed a bit too thin. It's clear that they really want Terreux to be what pops (which is an interesting branding choice).

I don't mind the theme / style of the label at all. It's the typography and the effects that kill me.

It seems really overdone to the point that it negatively impacts legibility. I kinda don't understand, it seems like it wouldn't be that hard to take what they have and make something beautiful.
