I've been drinking Pumpking for years from the brewery. Tap, growlers, and bottles. I'm not sure where the hate comes from. I absolutely love the stuff. It's weird too because I've hated every other pumpkin beer I've had in my life.

I'm sure it's subjectivity, not freshness. They just don't do it for me. I'll echo some of the other comments about an "artificial" or "synthetic" tinge to the beers. More importantly, I don't think their beers are top-tier examples for their styles.

I wouldn't drain-pour them (except Creme Brûlée - which was too much to stomach, even in a 3oz taster), but I also wouldn't buy them again. Could be that if I had 4 or 5 of the few DFH beers I don't like, I might have gotten the wrong impression of that brewery before getting to 120 Minute or WWS - which I love. Not sure that is the case with Southern Tier, though.

For the record, I can remember having Iniquity, Pumpking, Warlock, Krampus, Choklat, and Creme Brûlée.

A good sampler to be sure. If ever decide to roll the dice again I would say 2XIPA, 2XStout, & Gemini might be more you cup of tea. Some of those beers you drank are love/hate beers to be sure...

Thought Chokolat was mediocre at best, I cant stand Pumpking but I did like X2IPA. I should try more from them.

I think they do a good job with some seasonals but tend to go for other brews for year-round/shelf stuff

Personally, I've had many more good beers than bad from them. They are different and I like that.

Everything I've tried from them was sweet and boozy.

Anyone ever have any aged creme brulee? I bought my dad a bottle of it like three years ago and he tossed it in the fridge. Turns out he never opened it and still has it (I was exposing him to craft at the time and he loved the creme brulee stout so I bought him a bottle).

I couldn't agree more. When it's within a month of bottling, there isn't much of a drop off between some of the best IPAs in the world and 2xIPA in my opinion. And yes, I've had Heady, Pliny, Sucks, Kern Citra, Double Sunshine, Triple Sunshine, Enjoy By, and countless others. Problem is, I also agree that it falls off incredibly fast! If ST could do something to make this beer hold up a bit longer, I would by it more often.

    Try fresh 2XIPA.

Live & 2XIPA r meh & replaceable in category. 1 Pumking every October is enough.

Creme Brulee, Pumking and Warlock were definitely bombers to share, they were too much to drink alone. I seem to recall Choklat wasn't too bad. Their regular lineup's very well made, the 2Xs I've had were quite good.

I am a big fan of Southern Tier. Unfortunately, for whatever reason i have a hard time finding any of their
    beers fresh in my area...

I'd say they make great beers (specifically Pumking and their stouts) but not a great brewery, because many of their other offerings I am not a fan of.
