After Boulder Sour Fest I can safely say stay away from Fate's Barrel-Aged Gose. Unless you're looking for the novelty of a beer that tastes like cheese.

Yikes, that does not sound good. Such is the risk at any festival though with one-off beers or super small batches. You always find a gem or two, but you also throw back some real messes.

Stay as far away as possible from Fate's watermelon kolsch, dear God it was atrocious, offensive even.

Backcountry is King of Boulder. Maybe even the entire US...? Maybe overzealous but I've never seen a tap/bottle list as extensive as their's. Go there.

While i'm not a huge fan of Twisted Pine's core beers. They have some interesting taproom only stuff. Went there last week and tried a brett pale ale that was interesting.

As someone who has had ~90% of FATE's beers, that one was the best beer I've had from them when it was first on tap, nothing came close, not even their coffee IPA. Had it from the bottle and it was not nearly as good, but still one of the best things they've put out. Didn't have it yesterday.
Watermelon Kolsch is a hate it or love it beer, it seems. I love it, same with plenty of people I've talked to.

Mountain Sun. Mountain Sun, Mountain Sun, Mountain Sun.

...Southern Sun if you have kids.

Really glad it was an aberration. I love to stump for them, because when they're on, they're really on. I'll put away a watermelon kolsch with no issues. I mean if you're looking for a "pure" watermelon flavor you'll probably come away disappointed, but if you want a summer drinker that has a tinge of jolly rancher watermelon, this beer should be your jam.

Not to mention they have the best food I've probably ever had at a brewery and for excellent prices. It's the only place I would consider myself a regular at... and not for the beer (though I do drink tons of it).

Have you had it in the can? I've never had it in tap but in the can it was an abomination, complete drain pour.

    Nope just on tap.

Edit: hope they clean that up because it's a great one to have available in cans.

Sanitas has one of the best patios I've been to. Sitting back there on a sunny day...perfection.

WoB in Cherry Creek tapped a keg of Pliny and 7437 a few nights ago. My wife and I did a little side by side tasting, with my wife not knowing which was which. We both preferred the 7437, shockingly enough. It's awesome.

Different strokes for different folks. Too much malt on the back end for me. I'll talk PtE any day over Elevation 7437.

Just picked up a Fate Dola (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Barleywine) bottle at the brewery. It's fantastic.

I had the Cerberus at 12 Degrees last week, and really loved it (belgian strong with cherries). I also got a sip of the Velour Fog (11 % quad), and liked it, too. I usually hate quads, though, so quad-lovers may think it's sewer-water.

Speaking of quads...Pannepeut has been on tap at Backcountry for over two weeks. It amazes me how long the De Struise stuff lasts whenever it's tapped.
