Driftwood Brewing's Black Boot Porter & a 1/2 oz. of Van Gogh's Double Espresso Vodka.
Also, I'm currently looking for the perfect Ale to add a little Jack Honey to. I know the title of the thread is Beer blending, but the Porter espresso combination is too amazing not to share.

If you use a whole 2oz shot the beer gets lost for a 12oz beer i use 1/2oz bourbon and that does the trick play around with your favorite.stouts(or porter) and try some different bourbons or scotches careful it does pack a punch

Blue Moon & Guinness combination works pretty well and has a very cool appearance. It gives the Blue Moon a creamier taste and actually becomes enjoyable to drink.

I never had cared for Lambics but fortunately the other night when my wife and I went out my favorite bartender mixed a Youngs Double Chocolate Stout with a Lindemans Kriek. It was like drinking a chocolate covered cherry! A great dessert brew.

I mixed a Bruery Hottenroth and a Founders Rubaeus to fantastic results. Tart, yet had a subtle sweetness to it. More importantly, it was a balanced attempt! About 70% Hottenroth to 30% Rubaeus.

Spoke with a sales person for firestone and he said to try blending merkin and parabola. It was a delicious velvet parabola.

My favorite style is a Belgian Quad, and not surprisingly, an aged Westy 12 is top of the list for me. I’ve done many side by side comparisons (“quad wars”) and the aged West 12 invariably comes out on top, followed with Rochefort 10, St Bernardus 12 and LaTrappe Quad….after one of the comparative tasting sessions, I was convinced I could recreate the Westy 12 profile from a blend of the aforementioned beers, as I tasted hints of each of the other beers in the aged Westy…so I set up the experiment: a simple comparison of the single beers compared to the equal 2 and 3 beer blends of the Rochefort, St Bernardus and LaTrappe offerings:

Target: 2 yr old Westy 12
Singles: Rochefort 10; St Bernardus 12; LaTrappe Quad
50/50 blends: Rochefort- St Bernardus; Rochefort-LaTrappe; St Bernardus-LaTrappe
    33/33/33 blend: Rochefort-St Bernardus-Latrappe

In short, I liked the non blended beers better than the blends….and the 2-beer blends over the 3-beer blend. What this illustrated to me is that the subtle and unique flavor profiles from each of the non-blended beers is the result of many years of brewing art, science and craftsmanship and not easily attainable bys something as simple as physical blending; the target is not easily attained otherwise…and might be why so many of top rated quads are from old and established Abbey and Trappist brewers. I’m not a whisky drinker, but I suspect the same might be expected from the great single malts of Scotland: blending would detract, rather than add, to the uniquely flavored single malts.

A fun experiment to be sure, but I was surprised at how much better the single offerings were compared to the blends. I’ve thought of repeating the experiment and varying the ratios of the blended beers, but I’m not convinced the outcome would be significantly different.
