Yea but that puts the retailer in a bad situation with his loyal customers. Why should someone who maybe goes there once every few months (or perhaps for the first time hearing about Parabola's arrival) be able to get one of his 3 bottles instead of his loyal customers? Upon hearing this, me being one, I would probably stop shopping there.

Understood then sell it to your regulars. Don't announce you're keeping for employees only. Still a dick

guess he didn't learn his lesson trying to price gouge the illegal Westys he was trying to sell for $100/bottle. that guy is a joke. doesn't care about the beer community just the $. If it was just for the employees than why was it sitting on the counter??

drive to another state? that's ridiculous as his prices. you'd have an easier time trading for it.

Either sell it first come first serve or raffle it off. I understand hooking up your employees, but don't screw over your loyal customers.

Driving to another state was sarcasm...

I lived in RI until this May for the past few years and it came there a lot earlier.

Coincidentally I went to Monarch today as I was in area. First time for me there. They were super nice, asked me if I needed help right away and had a nice long conversation with an extremely knowledgeable beer geek who worked there. Think his name was Bob.

If you are looking for Lunch I stop by monarch on their usual delivery days and could pick you up a bottle or two for trade next time you are in the area.

Ill say it again, I think these distributors are putting these stores in a bad spot. They are giving so little to the stores they are forcing them to keep it for themselves, raffle it, or just put it up for the first three people who ask for it. I agree with the guy letting his employees have them since theres only 3. But his employees damn well better appreciate it or its just wasting it. Im sure he has more than 3 loyal customers and either way your screwed because your going to piss someone off and may lose that "loyal" customer. The asshole shouldn't of announced it and made sure the bottles were put in an office or something and not in the view of everyone.

Your best bet is to trade for it. It averages $16-$17 in CA and if you include more or other bottles you ultimately save on the shipping. If you do something like 6-8 bottles it'll be a little less than $3 each to ship. So you'll wind up getting a Parabola for $19 (at least $4 cheaper than N.Y.) plus a bunch of other bottles you cant get. Its so much easier and most of the time quicker. I had my Parabola a few weeks now and could of had it months ago. Less stressful too as in calling up stores, driving to different stores.

I always find it funny that people often have "loyal customers" and "I'd probably go to another store" interwoven in their posts.
