Anyone use something like this for a tasting? http://www.amazon.com/Libbey-Citation-Oz-Brandy-Glass/dp/B001J81UM4/ref=pd_sim_sbs_k_1 or does the standard 4/5oz taster work best?
I have seen snifters at tastings, but I doubt they were 6 oz. In my opinion, save your $ and check your thrift stores. Mini snifters have been known to show up.
I have and continue to use the 5.5 oz. Miny Brandy snifters from Pier 1 for high abv brews. http://www.pier1.com/Catalog/Dining...88/ProductName/Miny-Brandy-5.5oz/Default.aspx. In my opinion a fantastic option. Fairly inexpensive, by the way. Keep in mind you'll have to pay shipping on top of the about $2.20 each glass will cost you. Perhaps Pier 1 might be a better option, just check into it. EDIT: I just looked closer and even with shipping these are $2.70. Not to mention they are listed as 6 oz, but I think they are the same glass I have used that is sold at Pier 1 for a bit more as a 5.5 oz glass. I think there's just a difference in rounding as far as the capacity of the glass.
You're right, I didn't look too carefully at the details (and I had been...uh...drinking). If you want 12, I say go for it! Hard to say how long and hard you'd have to search to find a dozen around town. The convenience is often worth the price.
I'm sure they'll work out great for you. I always use the mini-snifters for tastings of high abv brews and 6 oz. nonic pint glasses for others.
Yep. My little baby snifter was my go-to tasting glass until it was broken at Dark Lord Day. You can buy them individually, btw. Brewtensils has them for sale: http://www.brewtensils.com/brandy-snifter-6-oz It's where I got mine. Going to buy another one tonight, actually...
I've considered ordering these before. Works out to about 2.50 each after shipping. http://www.webstaurantstore.com/libbey-3702-embassy-5-5-oz-brandy-glass-12-cs/5513702.html
