Lagunitas has been brewing in Chicago for a couple of months now, but the beer I see in the area is labeled as being from Petaluma. I'm assuming that much of this beer is brewed in Chicago. Is there anything on the label to indicate where it is actually brewed?

Check for grease fingerprints on the label, left by someone who's been consuming an Italian beef sandwich.

I think one would assume that they would eventually fix that...

Perhaps theyre just waiting on the new labels to arrive that say "brewed in Chicago" ?

If they don't ever, well that is just really lame and I would lose considerable respect for them.

IIRC, when the Chicago brewery opened, there was an article in the Sun Times that quoted McGee saying that for a while they would brew only the IPA there until they got everything dialed in. Have not read anything about expanding production yet. Also, somewhere I saw a photo of a bottle of IPA with Chicago on the label.

    Are you?

Still trying to figure out who the moron was at "timeout.com" who declared the 18th was the official opening date.

Mr. Magoo /Magee had another rant on his pontificate twitter account that it would be "open by the 18th". I love how they do not state in the article that his unofficial twitter post is the entire source of their information.
He does not even say on his twit if its the 18th of June or July, or heck even August.

Id be willing to bet Tony M only remembers his twitter password when he is under the influence of something, but that my friends, is simply my assumption.

Yep. The Sumpin Extra I found yesterday was eight days old and lists Chicago on the label.

A few of their beers (not just IPA) have been brewed here and sent out, chances are you've drank some. They're not making a big deal about it because the beer tastes the same as the stuff coming from Petaluma.

That's a good little read. What I'm wondering is how crowded will the taproom be for the first few months it's open? I know it holds 300 people, which is a lot, but will it reach capacity in those first few months or so causing a wait to get into the taproom? I want to go this weekend but I'm guessing it's probably gonna be a madhouse.

i'm curious myself how it will turn out as well. i know they have a following not to mention the hype and let downs of the taproom opening over a year ago. I'm one of them. for me, living really close by is a plus, would love to see more people in the area. while it's not hard to get there (pink line) it's a way not a lot of folks in the craft beer community take down south west to little village.

if you end up going and it is a madhouse, there is a fairly new bar that opened (December) just under the L (pink) on Damen, called the Barrel. Pretty nice beer selection as well as bourbon and whiskey. and since you're down south, there is always Maria's, Skylark and Simones.

Access to the catwalks only during tours.... :slight_frown: Was hoping that would not be the case.

I hate just sitting in a bar.

Does anyone have details on tours? I've been looking around but have not found anything online.
