Sucks isn't good either. Adding soggy and yet somehow burnt cardboard malt flavors to it didn't make it any better for me.

I had a bottle in NYC picked up at a beer spot in Harlem and though I still enjoyed it, it wasn't nearly as good as the bottle I had in Albuquerque days after the beer arrived to our state. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the distance the beer traveled or where it was brewed (possibly Chicago rather than Cali?).

I agree with you. The bottle I had in ABQ was outstanding and easily one of the most memorable Black IPAs I've had.

Must be a Jersey thing. No beer can reasonably be expected to be considered "great" by everyone. But I honestly don't think I've ever seen or heard a single person say Sucks isn't good.

That equals $19.60 for a six pack. About a hundred Ipa's I can get for half that price and all are very good as well. Good beer. Poor value.

Helios at $3.25 a bomber is a good price for a good beer.

    Enjoy

That's exactly how it tasted to me... a roasty Sucks.

Apples and oranges, I think. I've heard that argument but the margins/ price point are always higher when it comes to bombers) U have to compare it to other bombers, not to six packs. ( if you want to be fair, that is). I do happen to agree that Helios is a good value as well. You wouldn't say that two six packs are a rip off compared to a twelve pack. Different items work on different margins.

There's no balance, there's alcohol coming through and at a little under 8% I think a brewer should be striving to not have the alcohol show up in the flavor, and just an astringent flavor I do not appreciate.

To each his own, but I'm finding Lagunitas to be the most overrated brewery on this place.

You are going to love this stuff-much like Dirtwolf-DW may be a tiny bit better but not by much and I know how much you like Dirtwolf.I know how you brag DW is the best buy on the market and I certainly concur but wait till you try this. And make sure you are home sweet home this stuff will get you in tons of trouble if you decide to do anything after a couple of these and they are incredibly easy to drink.

I went through a case of NightTime way too fast. That stuff is real tasty.

I don't think you have to compare the pricing to other IPA bombers. Rather, I compare how much Sucks costs to how much Sucks costs. It's not like we're talking about a price of a single beer vs. a bulk discounted price for a case. This is the same damn (delicious) beer that costs almost twice as much in bombers as it does in six packs.

I personally don't buy into the notion that bombers (or in this case, quarts) need to be priced higher just because they are bombers. But even if there are some production issues that make that format more expensive, the fact of the matter is that Lagunitas is choosing to put out a beer that it normally/previously released in six-packs in 32s.

Edited to add: I would have no issue with this at all if they still sold the six packs. Ballast Point sold overpriced bombers of Sculpin next to (semi) affordable six packs; easy choice for me to make. My issue here is the lack of choice.

Never seen a 32 ounce bottle of Sucks in MD, DC or VA. So while Sucks maybe "year round", it surely is not on many places on the East Coast from what I'm reading in this thread.

Also, bring back Lagunitas Our Own Bavarian-Style DoppelWeizen.

Until your posts, I didn't know I had such an affinity for burnt cardboard, astringent alcohol-flavored beverages... Color me shocked! I'll have to go home and re-evaluate my palate with some more Lagunitas...

I just like well made beers. I also have a problem with Go To IPA, another darling here.

Maybe it is a Jersey thing, because quite frankly Sucks is good, but not great. I find the flavor lacking.

I liked Stone Go To more on first impression...but the more I had it(had a few sixers to share around NCAA Tourney time) the worse impression I got.

Yeah I wouldn't call sculpin affordable, at least for what I see it priced for, I see your point. I wasnt aware that hop stoopedever came in four/ six packs, so I can only compare it to other bombers, which I normally avoid.
