New Glarus upcoming beers and other info

Hmm. Not listed on the NG beer finder.

 

I hate to dash any hopes (including my own), but I've been told that the outlook is not good for the rumored Thumbprint Kriek. That being said, I have no doubt that whatever is coming out of that magic cave in New Glarus is going to be excellent...and probably more interesting.

 

Could you elaborate? Is there some sort of quality control or infection issue?

 

I read on Twitter it will be an Oud Bruin, coming out it July. I tried to find where I read it later and couldn't locate the tweet, and of course Twitter is not the most reliable source, so take it for what it's worth.

 

I wish I could elaborate, but that's all I know. I have no reason to believe it's any sort of QC issue. I think the rumor was just that: a rumor.

 

Just keep in mind that these are all more or less rumors until it actually shows up on shelves.

 

Then you're mistaken, friend. I took a Hard Hat tour in April and Dan himself discussed Bourbon Barrel Kriek with the rest of the tour group. It is very real and I believe he said it will be released in 4 packs. It's not a rumor, it's not a myth. Unless something has happened to all of the batches, it's definitely getting released. Dan wouldn't specify when it would be released other than saying "later in 2014"

 

Oh and he goes on to say "Peach & blonde version of the New Glarus beer I'm drinking from the tank will be bottled in 500 ml. bottles for @GreatTasteMW release."

So if no BB Kriek...some goodness coming!

My apologies. It must have looked like I was dismissing the OP's report, which you had confirmed. I should have just shared what I was told, which is that the outlook is not good for a Kriek. I think we can agree that there are reasons other than a QC issue that may have changed things. At any rate, I'm excited about whatever is to come, and rather like surprises, especially when they're tasty and sour.

 

Looking for suggestions on a good place to get a New Glarus keg on the IL/WI border. Woodmans doesn't sell kegs and I'm trying to get a hold of Badger Spirits in Beloit. Any other recommendations people have?

Today a local beer salesman at the store I work showed me on his ordering tablet the available and upcoming releases for NG and for July it indeed had Oud Bruin listed. Sounds good to me.

 

Could be Enigma, Sour Brown Ale, or something new?
