Hey Texas BA's, I'm taking a family vacation down to San Antonio and Corpus Christi at the end of the month. Will be in each city about 2-3 days. I have little kids so checking out good bars likely won't be an option, but was curious if anyone has suggestions on good family-friendly restaurants to check out that have good beer selection? Will try to hit bottle shops in both towns as well as long as they aren't too out of the way. Any must-try recommendations? We are staying at the Drury Plaza on the Riverwalk in SA, and I think somewhere around Mustang Island in CC. Any tips would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Plenty of San Antonio threads out there. Search is your friend. Quickly though: The Friendly Spot and The Cove both have over 40 taps and playgrounds on site. Both close enough to the Riverwalk.

In Corpus, Executive Surf Club will probably be the most kid-friendly bar with the biggest tap selection. I would also recommend Railroad Seafood station downtown. They recently started brewing their own beers, which have been good, and they always have a few other good beers on tap, as well as bottles (https://www.facebook.com/RailroadBrewingCo).

Also B&J's Pizza brews at one of their locations and has a large bottle list at both of their locations.

You will probably be about 20-25 minutes away from the surf club, Railroad, and B&Js brewpub and about 15 minutes away from the other B&Js

Do your bottle shopping in SA. You may find a few aged gems at Liquid Town (Alameda) in Corpus, but that's about it. For SA, I'd recommend Central Market or Spec's De Zavala. The latter is a bit of a drive from downtown, but definitely worth it. Freetail and Big Hops are both family friendly and worth a visit as well.

For Corpus, my top recommendation would be B&J's Pizza. Solid beer selection, kid-friendly, and the couple of house beers I've tried were pretty good.

Times have changed. The Liquid Town Alameda is your best bet for bottles. Although, most new releases disappear in a few hours. Don't waste your time at Spec's.

I've heard Scuttlebutts has some decent craft selections on tap. They seem family friendly. You may also get lucky at Padre Island Burger Company. Port Aransas Brewing usually has a decent on premise bottle selection and a decent burger too. Avoid their house beers though.

In town, I will vouche for either B&Js Pizza(not brewhouse)locations. Other than that I hate beer.

I live in Corpus. A few of these places that have been mentioned, I can stand behind: Liquid Town off Alameda is probably the best liquor store to check out for beer selection. Scuttlebutts on the island has some good beers on tap along with a large menu, B&Js pizza (not BJs brewhouse) off of Staples is a brewpub with a solid selection of house brews and others on tap, along with bottles and tasty food. If you find yourself in the downtown area of corpus, Railroad Seafood Station is a brewpub/restaurant with a handful of their own brews, . These places (scuttle, B&Js, Railroad) are all mainly restaurants so they are pretty family friendly during meal hours. Also, on a less family friendly level, Cassidy's Irish Pub downtown has the Lazy Beach Brewing Blonde on tap. It is brewed here in Corpus. The microbrewery just started out, but has been in the making for a while: http://lazybeachbrewing.com/. Enjoy your trip!

Another thumbs up for Liquid Town Alemeda. HEB Plus in Flour Bluff has a pretty good selection too if you find yourself out that far and in need of a fix.
