Gordon Lightfoot... of course.... if you could read my mind

I prefer the Hogshead when it comes to Theakstons
also the I have to admit that the Masham Glory is better than average despite some peculiar ingredients

but if you are buying bitter from the big T
my money tends to go on this here bottle I is opening now
    Coniston's Bluebird

Some lovely Lidl Chilean Malbec followed by a 2009 Cuvee Delphine. This beer is easier to drink (at 13%) than water. So good.

Went on holiday to Coniston in 1998 and of course spent a lot of time in the Black Bull. I was so impressed by the Buebird thar when I got back I slipped into the Rose and Crown to tell the landlord about it. He said he would try to order some.Unfortunately the next day Bluebird was voted CBOB at the GBBF and getting hold of any was impossible.
The Rose & Crown at Hose was an early (80s) example of a pub specialising in microbreweries. Although out in the sticks (population ca 500) with an excellent other pub down the road it managed to sell 8 cask ales in perfect condition.Nowadays it sells just 5 because the whole area is stuffed full of similar pubs.

Last night it was petanque at the Crown Inn, Sproxton. An idyllic spot with some of the most attractive stone built villages that I know of to drive through on the way.A perfect summer evening except that we lost.Never mind, the Grainstore Metatarsal was excellent.Proper beer which doesn't taste of grapefruit but of actual hops.

This lunchtime it was a return to the Nags Head at Harby for a pint of Cumberland followed by Marston's New World. A hint of grapefruit but still a decent well brewed pint.

Last exam yesterday, student card now expired so I'm now officially just an unemployed guy. Celebrated with a cold Brains SA from the bottle which was amazing as it was really hot outside (i got sunburn in Cardiff, imagine that!)

Down to the pub for the football and sampled Rhymney kings ale, and vale of glamorgan Scorchio bitters while watching Spain get thoroughly demolished, before XT 13 pacific pale ale, cottage brewing icarus, and beerd blackbeerd porter as the Aussies put up a brave fight.
