I stopped in on their opening day and couldn't disagree more. The Batch #1 was one of the best browns I've ever had which shocked me all the more since I'm very indifferent on browns. And that was after expecting their Nightmare with cocoa and vanilla to be my favorite instead. Not saying I'm right or your wrong, just my 2 cents but they were good enough to motivate me to start biking harder again to do a LTD to Enki ride this summer.

The Nightmare with cocoa and vanilla was good then? That one caught my eye right away.

I thought both Nightmares were good but the others (IPA, Wheat, and Brown) were not very impressive. I wouldn't say the brown was the worst beer I've had but it was thin and bland.

Yup, but if you like coffee flavors I'd recommend going with the straight-up version. We did a side-by-side comparison and the coffee lovers seemed to prefer it over the cocoa and vanilla version. You also get 6 more ounces for 50 cents less with that one too.

I see Waconia Brewing pushed their opening back about 3 weeks. The countdown was down to 50-some days and noticed it was 73 yesterday. Can't wait to get my founder's pack Monday though. :-)

The only one that is any good is the Nightmare with cocoa and vanilla. The others are all either flawed, miss their mark or are completely uneventful. But they seem to have a steady run customers, despite all of this.

Take it for what it's worth but they're offering Nightmare floats now.

Waconia brewing just announced their head brewer -- Tom Schufman from Fulton. Don't know Tom but I really like Fulton beer.

    A few more updates:
U4ic Brewing in Blakely and Roetz Brewery in Jordan both got hit by a wall of mud owing to the flooding this spring.

Maple Island in Stillwater has initiated a Kickstarter campaign.

Some press for the Foxhole Brewhouse in Wilmar.

And over on St. Paul's 'Rockin' East Side', Schwietz Saloon has quietly reopened. It was always a great dive bar, but the plan is to ultimately turn it into a brewpub. Not far from Ward 6 and the newly-relocated Flat Earth -- and Obb's! :grinning:

Word in the hood is that Bad Weather will be moving into the former tire shop at Smith & West 7th in St. Paul (just down from the Xcel Center, and more importantly walking distance from my house!) Best news I've heard all month!

Drove by it tonight. Good lord I hope they go into that space, it's virtually crawling distance from me lol. Also checked on the Stone Saloon down the block. Scaffolding is down and the old bird is looking good. It will be interesting to see that place come together.

I will have a chance to hit a place or two this weekend. Out of all the new openings in the last year which would you suggest for the best beer? Not looking for ambiance, or setting or food. Just the beer. I am not into sours but into pretty much everything else. Love hefes this time of the year which would lead me to Harriet but I am thinking of trying some of these new places at least once.

I've been to all of these: Indeed, Dangerous Man, 612, .Hammerheart, Steel Toe, Northbound, Town Hall, Rock Bottom, Liftbridge, Harriet, and Bigwood..

Looking for suggestions for anything other than these for this weekend. i know of Dayblock, another one on Washington I can't remember, Sissyphus or something like that, Bang, Tin Whiskers....not sure what else...losing track these days....help!!

Sisyphus is over by Dunwoody (394/94), Bang and Tin Whiskers in St. Paul - you could hit Burning Brothers if you're over that way. Sociable Ciderwerks, and Boom Island would be my rec's. Also, LTD, Excelsior and Enki if you're on the west side.
