Pottsville, PA, May 2014 – D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., America’s Oldest Brewery, is pleased to announce that it is expanding the distribution of its highly sought-after brands to the state of Rhode Island.

C&C Distributors, Inc., owned by the Mancini Family have been appointed to distribute the Yuengling portfolio of malt brewed beers in the state. Founded in 1959, their beverage companies now represent some of the most influential producers in the business, carrying major brands in most beverage categories. "On behalf of the entire staff at C&C Distributors, the Mancini Family is proud and honored to represent the Yuengling brands for the state of Rhode Island. We are excited to bring the Yuengling story of Heritage, Authenticity, Quality and Family to Rhode Island retailers and consumers", states Ken Mancini, President.

The initial rollout is targeted for June and will include Yuengling’s flagship beer, Traditional Lager as well as its award winning Yuengling Light Lager and Black & Tan brands. This expansion is a long awaited return to the state after scaling back in the 1990’s due to supply limitations. Rhode Island will become the sixteenth state in the brewery’s footprint.

“It’s been a long time but we’re really excited to return to Rhode Island. Consumers have been patiently asking and we’re now ready to satisfy those demands” adds David Casinelli, COO at Yuengling. “We are very much looking forward to our new partnership with the Mancini family and strive to exceed everyone’s expectations.”

The brewery plans to initially introduce the brands as draft in the on premise channel, immediately followed by package offerings at retail.

Interesting. Same distributor that handles Narragansett.

Note: they list Narragansett as a general "domestic", but have added Yuengling under their "craft" list. I guess if you're going to distribute both brands that's one way to differentiate them.

I dont have to drive to Mass. just to drink mediocre beer. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Looks like the drafts are starting to popup. I saw a sign at the Warwick Chelos, then noticed a tap handle through the window at Fifth Element in Newport. For a lower end bar & grill, I could at least see myself ordering this whereas before with BMC only available I would settle for a water or G&T.

So now that its in every store now, I must say it was a letdown for me. The Lager to me was just another average to mediocre AAL. Maybe just barely better than Gansett Lager but not by much. The Black and Tan though was pretty decent and much better than the Lager IMO. Probably because you dont taste the corn/adjuncts. I think it was only the 2nd Black and Tan Ive ever had. I'll probably pick up their Porter if they start selling it here. Didnt try the Light Lager because of my feelings on the Lager.

Just my 2 cents but I really dont see Gansett Lager drinkers permanently making the switch. Once they try the Yuengling Lager and find out how similar to Gansett it is they wont be impressed and stick with it long term. Both beers are cheap but Gansett is still cheaper so why switch to a more expensive beer thats not much different or better? Once the newness and curiousity factor wears off Gansett doesnt have much to worry about IMO.

Makes sense. Here in Yeungling-land, Gansett seems to be competing for the PBR drinker.

I can only say what I see in Massachusetts since they came back. Yuengling is placed in the cooler in between the craft beer and BMC, just as Gansett is. Gansett seasonals are better, even if the Yuengling lager is slightly better than Gansett's. It's the most underwhelming beer of all time as compared to its hype. It's a bridge beer. I would have liked to have access to it as a college student, given the price.

As a college student, abliet a long time ago, Yeungling Premium could be had for under $25 a 1/2 keg.... yeah, I had my fill.

That would beat the hell out of the Busch we typically got in kegs. So would Narragansett for that matter. The only "fancy" beers we saw in college were Harp and Moosehead, maybe Becks. Different time. Even the Seagrams wine coolers of the day were terrible compared to Mike's or whatever today.

As for the Vitamin Y; is it just the Trad Lager people are seeing? Or is the Porter and Chesterfield readily available?

Growing up in PA, I definitely consumed more Yuengling Lager than any other beer brand. It is certainly better than a big 3 beer at a non craft pub or bar and I still find myself ordering one when I visit the homestead (no yuengling here in CT) and I think the porter is definitely worth a shot and recall the chesterfield being decent enough. nothing to be wowed with but good crossover brews for certain.

I'm seeing Yuengling replacing a lot of craft options in MA. It's now carried in nearly every establishment and is certainly not displacing the incumbent BMC brands. Not a good thing at all...
