The good news is that you've been enjoying it fresh!

I just can't help but have a couple when I get home from work each day. Between this, TG's offerings we get in growlers at a great rate, Indeed, and Steel Toe, I could go the rest of the summer without purchasing a single can of Surly - something I never thought I'd say...

Blasphemy! I have to buy Overrated whenever it hits the shelves here every couple months.

Dang, does it really sell that quickly that you have to wait a couple months to get more? Don't get me wrong, I like Overrated, but personally would take Scream or Sue any day.

Although to be fair, Abrasive should be the one compared to Scream and that would be a tough choice. Abrasive has been my favorite hoppy beer for a long time, so I'd probably still side with it. Arg, so many good beers to choose from, what a tough time it is to be a beer enthusiast...

I've never been wow'd by Surly. Grew up drinking SD-style IPA's, so my first taste of Surly (and Two Hearted, for that matter) felt kind of "meh- is that all?" Two Hearted has become one of my favorite beers on-tap only, and haven't had any Surly on tap yet (soon enough).

Yeah, TG is a god-send. They're beers are so good that they'll force other regional brewers to get better just to keep up. I do wish we would get a few more solid single IPA's coming out of Wisconsin, though. Black Husky Pale, Lakefront IPA, and Bitter Woman are pretty much the best we've got.

Well, I'm still a pretty big fan of Surly. Some of their prices can get up there, but they do make some great beer. I think Abrasive is outstanding, and I still like Furious (but it's quite a bit different from the more popular hoppy brews nowadays - more of a hoppy red ale imo).

To not totally thread jack this, I guess I just meant Scream stands up too and is a great alternative to ANY of the popular hoppy beers out there. I don't care if it's TG, HT, Gandhi, or Abrasive, this is well deserving of a spot in the fridge (at least mine).

As far as I know, I only see fresh Overrated every couple months at my go-to store. It doesn't sell that fast, but it's usually gone within a couple weeks. I believe Abrasive is right on par with Heady. Just wish it were a little cheaper.

I agree about Scream. It earned a spot next to Heady, Pliny, and pseudoSue (I know, not a IIPA) in our campsite bottle-share this weekend.

Discount had a bunch the other day - they now have the new Equinox Howler too, gonna have to try that. I saw on Facebook it was 1 per customer, so I probably missed it this time...

Give Ale Asylum Bedlam a shot... I guess it's not technically just a straight IPA but man is it good.

I do like Bedlam, but I don't drink Ale Asylum very often. They kind of get lost in the mix, along with Capitol & Wisconsin Brewing. It is nice to have a Belgian option for a local IPA, though.

side note: i wonder why new glarus avoids putting the abv on their beers, some are hard to find even online

someone addressed that in this or the other NG thread with an article from Dan saying it took the focus off the beer or something along those lines.

It's a little strange, only because it borders on being irresponsible (which is a word I would NEVER associate with NG in any other context). Folks needs to know how much they're imbibing.

I find IBU's and OG to be much more distracting- IBUs can be very misleading (an 80 IBU barleywine might taste "less" bitter than a 45 IBU session ale) and OG doesn't mean much to the average consumer.

I was at Woodman's in La Crosse and they said they got less of this thumbprint than they usually get. So I would grab it when you see it because this one won't hang around as long as most IMO.

Has anyone in the Appleton or Fox Cities area seen Scream around? I'm living in Utah and my parents are picking this up for me. I called Woodmans grocery store in Appleton and to my surprise she told me they do not have it. Any input is appreciated! Thanks.

@ThreeTens can you help Benish out?

@Benish I just picked up my 3rd 4pk in Greenville, just outside of Appleton, at Corks and Caps. I am fairly sure Club Liquor in Menasha has it. Haven't been to any stores in Appleton this week, but would suggest Flanigans. They typically get most new releases fairly soon.
    G'luck. It's amazingly good.

Thanks! I will call them tomorrow. I'm hoping they have it because I have got to try it!
