The irony is, of course, that the people who bring a cooler to Jester King are those most likely to be buying a ton of bottles to-go, because that's their style. Also, because they have something to ease the inanity of standing in line for 20 minutes or more to get a beer, they'll probably stick around longer and actually buy more beer on-site. But causal connections are tough to predict, so I could also be completely wrong.

Sometimes the logic on this site really blows my mind. So when people bring other beer to drink while at Jester King (aka not drinking JK beer), that means they drink more JK beer than if they went to only drink JK?

    Mmmk

To be fair, we're currently open 22 hours a week, and our lines at our bar and outdoor station (not bottles to go) are only long for about 3 to 4 hours on Saturday afternoon. We'd like for them to be shorter Saturday afternoon, but there's not much we can do about it with our current setup. Again, I'd point out that the vast majority of time we're open, there's little to no line. - Jeff

The lines die down all the time then get long again on Saturdays. Just watch the flow of the line from the tables and you'll know when to get in line.

That's fair. As an out-of-towner, I'm more limited than the Austinites and I realize that. What is the avenue to get a share authorized?

Truth to this. I was there last Friday and the line went really quickly, maybe a 10-15 minute wait at most. JK keeps everything moving nicely.

I've waited in line for longer, for far less quality beers. I really don't see why anyone is bitching about waiting a few minutes. Have some darn patience. Not everything can be instant gratification.

Thanks. Just ask me. We tend/prefer to associate bottle shares with special events like Zwanze Day for instance. - Jeff

Not speaking for JK but I would just approach it with common courtesy. Ask first and don't assume that since it has happened before they will just automatically allow it whenever. In my limited dealings with JK they are always open to much more than they have to be. It is up to us as advocates to not take advantage of their generosity.

I have been out there a ton and honestly don't know:
Is it bring your own sacks or are there sacks out there?

The fact that they ever allow a share is an amazing gesture and anyone that expects to be able to bring in bottles to share without prior permission is insane. They are in the business of selling beer to take home and drink on site so it's absurd to suggest that bringing your own beer wouldn't hurt their sales (even if it's just a little). These guys are awesome in every way it's cool that they allow them from time to time and those times seem to be pretty frequent. I've been to a bottle share out there and loved it but I'd keep making the trip from Dallas to see them even if they never once allowed another one.

@jesterkingbeer Does it look like NC will last into Sunday? I'll be making my first trip to JK and would love to grab a bottle. Really looking forward to finally making it down there.

Heading out there with some friends. Josh, if you're heading out, toss a bottle or two in your carrier. We're already bringing a few things out.

    Cheers!

Whoops! Just saw Jeff's previous post about not bringing outside bottles (outside an organized bottle share). Maybe another time! But, we'll still be there... so hoping we see you.

    Cheers!
