Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek 2011. Underwhelming. Presumably from the US BA over-hype. Decent but pretty one-dimensional and definitely not worth the price.

Perhaps I've been drinking too many good British cask ales? Perhaps too many hops?

Had many Belgian beers over the weekend and unfortunately a Becks Vier. Even the cheap lager's good in Belgium! I only had 2 of those though.

Like a typical Brit on a stag do, a pint of Becks Vier in the terminal.
Started off in the Cantillon Brewery straight after getting off of the Eurostar. Tried the Lambic, can tell it's an awesome base for a lot of other awesome beers and also it was almost wine like. After this I got the Rosé De Gambrinus, then I paid for tastings of the Kriek, Iris and Gueuze. Awesome.

Stopped at the shop on the way to the Hotel as it was still quite early and got 6 Duvel Mosaic Tripel Hop 2014. Had a few on the hotel balcony and then we set off walking into the centre. Stopped at a bar called "The Office" as the walk was longer than we anticipated and had a pint of Belle-Vue Kriek and Leffe Tripel on tap. Preferred the Leffe but Cantillon got me in the mood for a good Kriek... Belle-Vue wasn't the best I'd had!

After we got into town we stopped at Little Delirium. This is probably where the stag started but I was enjoying the fact I was trying so many beers in a day. Everyone ordered a pint of Juplier (the local lager) apart from me and the Stag. I ordered a Tripel Karmeliet and the stag ordered a Kwak.
Had a Kwak after and a La Trappe Quadrupel. All these beers were great!

Off to Hard Rock and this is where I had the Jupiler. Not too bad for a cheap local lager, probably the best I've had in this catagory and much better than the Becks Vier :stuck_out_tongue:

After this we went to the big Delirium and I had an Anchor Beckles Brown, La Guillotine (not my thing).
Was awesome in the Delirium but people were itching to watch England so we went back towards the hotel to a place called Fat Boy's (an "english" bar) Had another Leffe Tripel on tap which was great, got bored of the match so went back to the Hotel and had a Duvel. A lot of beer in one day but it was a stag weekend and I remember it all, so not too bad

Next day had a can of Juplier which was suprisingly okay again and then a couple of Grimbergen Dubbels on the way home Eurostar. I bought these in the station which I thought was crazy and it was only 10 Euro for 8!

Good Haul also from De Bier Tempel and Beer Planet including a bottle of Pilny which is still fresh, been waiting to try for ages! No beer now for a good 4 or 5 days after that!

About 3 times mark up and 2 weeks fresh - that's better than I thought you would say !

    Enjoy - it's a top notch beer !

Some folks would call it grapefruit juice mind ...

Thanks mate! Proper looking forward to it! Fresher than in some states apparently which is crazy. Maybe they did a trade on here  I would've paid 15 for it to be honest. Saw one in America when I was there in March and saw a date of November 13... glad I didn't get that one that's for sure :grinning: There was some Stone Old Guardian next to the Pilny in Beer Planet which was 45 euros though!!

    Gone against my personal beliefs
and have put these Point Amber Lagers & Pale Ales
in the fridge to see if that improves the beer.

Drink something really rank then those ambers and pales might benefit from the contrast.

Making plans to visit the overpriced specialist bottle shop in Toon to pick up a few but the main reason for the visit is that they've started stocking Biscuit Butter and Bacon Jam.
    Well you would wouldn't you?

    now for the pale.

Once again a bit of a chill makes the brew more palatable

let's check a Point IPA coz last one was just like the Pale Ale
    perhaps mis-labelled

Had a few minutes to kill in Bingham while waiting for new tyres to be fitted on my main car so popped into the 'Spoons for a pint of Mikado Mild from the Pheasantry Brewery. Lovely stuff at 5% ABV and £1.49 a pint. Wish the tyres had been such good value :slight_frown:

Slipped out in the MG (lovely day again) to the Marquis and had a pint of Star Brewing Company's Meteor. Good old fashioned but well structured and polished bitter. I then had another half (that's the glass on the left by the way)
