Just had this at the brass tap earlier and Im loving this batch. Such a drinkable barrel aged stout. Big coffee notes and chocolate barrel flavor. Kinda pricey for a 10oz pour ($10) but at least I know to look for a few more bottles than what I was originally thinking.

Got a growler from HEB Vintage. Dayum. This is better than I remember. I cellared a '12 and it didn't age great so my last memory of it was poor. Anybody know what barrel(s) they used?

Can you bring your own growler there or do you have to purchase one from them?

I believe you have to purchase there's. Not sure though.

Being that the base beer is Buried Hatchet stout (I believe), which is fairly easy to drink right off the bat, I don't think aging is necessary for Black Crack. The ones I had were smooth when fresh. Typically, Imperial Stouts often need aging as they are a bit harsh when fresh, but that is not the case with this brew.

I thought it was way too sweet fresh, but some time (6-8 months IIRC) helped to temper that edge.

Popular beer from a local brewery that was in barrels and specs tweeted about it 4 or 5 times. Shit will be gone by 10:30 me thinks... Probably better luck at D&Q.
