Went to a little beer tasting that a local store called The Andersons Market does every Saturday. Gangster Frog IPA by Hoppin Frog and As Follows by Stillwater were delicious. Two very good beers. Mikeller Keeper was decent and North Coast Le Merle Saison was alrght although I'm not a huge fan of the style. The last beer was AK Alive by Mikkeller/Anchorage Brewing and it was just a crazy style, but I was not a fan.

Needed some bourbon and something semi strong. Still drinking really well, best beer New Holland makes, that I've had.

Needed it after the way today as been. Kids that don't want to stay on schedule, and a dog that is throwing up all day from whatever he ate last night or yesterday, and to top it all off, some nasty storms keep rolling through today. No bueno.

I've had a few out of the bottle and enjoyed it. Even without sitting on it for 3-5 years

This stuff is very interesting. It's their Bolshevik Bastard imperial stout aged on Pinot Noir barrels. The most expensive of the beers in their line-up, coming in at close to 18 dollars for a 750. This is the 2013 vintage, so the bretts from the barrel have taken over. Nice sour and fruity tang that lends a nice balance to an otherwise pretty damn style specific imperial stout. Dark, roasty and sticky. Definitely recommended, and apparently not that hard to find in terms of expensive seasonals.

Awesome Canadian dude (you know who you are!) gave me free range of his cellar. He was afraid I was going to cherry pick the rare American sours. He obviously doesn't know me all too well yet

No picture but my local bottle shop had Stone's Enjoy By 7/4/2014 on tap so I picked up a growler. I had tried a bomber of the 2/14/2014 Enjoy By and liked it and wanted to try it on tap to see if it was better. I don't know if it was this batch or the difference between tap and bottle, but this stuff is outstanding. Almost like a cold glass of orange juice. Of course it may also have something to do with it being 95 degrees and anything cold to drink is relief!

Grandson is on his way home. Bikes, baseball, frisbee and a little gaming...I like having him around, he helps keep me young.

Time to kickback on the porch, listen to some Buffett and do some repairs on my sandals (unfortunate)...however...I fortunately get to try my first ever Hoptimum...and I am pleased...I hope I will be as pleased with my sowing job when finished. Cheers BA...wishing you all the best!

New beer for me. I like it. I don't tend to drink a lot to triples for some reason.

When we ride we crush whalez half way in. They're not the shitty plastic Dixie cups but they're Dixie cups none the less. Trust me, the beer was no less amazing due to the cup.

Nah, if he posts the pic correctly you'll see why we nurse the beer. Did the same with Bo and Luke...once we got the fucking "wax" off that fucker.

In any event, still with the Mastodon...
Opening track and title track below

To my ears, the album seems to be pulling together a lot of elements from Remission and The Hunter. Tremendous stuff.

Extra points: each Mastodon album has had an elemental theme: Remission: fire, Leviathan: water, Blood Mountain: earth, Crack the Skye: aether (air), the Hunter: wood. This album's theme? Death? Life and Death? (see: interview with Bill Kelliher)
