The Locals HINTS AND HAULS THREAD

Heres my recent haul. Ordered mostly for the Jester King/Fantome collaboration.

I admit, while I would love to do a round two of local-themed love, current commitments and my wife-imposed embargo would leave me passing on anything in the immediate future, but if the group decides on August or later I'm definitely in.

 

I share in your shame. My box goes out Monday...

 

I gotta say, I think one of the big reasons this group has done so well is the locals angle. It allows trading and enjoyment of beer without first obtaining whales. That makes the group accessible to a wider audience. Excellent idea.

As for another round, I want to do one soon, but I understand a need to wait. Alternatively, if a subgroup wants to do a round now, we could 1) do a smaller interim round to tie the group over to August-ish or 2) bring in more people for another "full" round to tie the group over to August-ish. Or something else. Thoughts?

 

What if we did something like a Summer Six? Six local beers that are great to drink in the summer? No more no less. Keep it simple and humble.

Nice idea, I like this a lot. I know I would enjoy doing this (and I still might, don't count me 100% out just yet), but it's small enough that I don't mind missing out. It keeps the group going without being a big undertaking for anyone; then we can do another larger round later.

I would say let's open it up if others want to jump in, one of the fun things about SWTFYW is that people (like me) can join as long as you're contributing; that said, I wouldn't advertise for more participants with an NBO thread or anything like that. That way lurkers can join but it's still pretty much the current group.

 

On the summer six, you could send a sixer of your favorite summer local, a 4-pack and two singles, or 6 different beers.

You can send bombers, but the requirement is only 6 bottles of a beer you enjoy in the summer.

 

This would be great if half the participants were from Westbrook territory so that everyone else could get sixers of Gose
