Let's see if I have this straight. AB InBev has attended to the craft beer challenge by buying interest in a number of breweries and brands (Widmer, Red Hook, Modelo, Goose Island, Rolling Rock, etc.) and starting its own brands (Shock Top), but MillerCoors has chosen instead to do almost nothing (Leinenkugel, Blue Moon)?

Exactly. How many Shock Top commercials have you seen? Blue Moon is pushed hard. It took them a while to realize that would work, but once they started doing it, Blue Moon took off.

Blue Moon is actually loosing ground to Shock Top because of its pricing. Many bar owners are opting for Shock Top because the price of the keg is a huge difference and the beers are pretty interchangeable. From hearing stuff around the industry thats where Blue Moon has seen some issues.

AC Golden is doing some good stuff, though on a more local (i.e. Colorado) level.

Except it wouldnt. Notice the very first bit is that SABMiller would have to get rid of Miller. Basically, they would sell their share in MillerCoors to MolsonCoors. So, within the US, nothing would change but the owners behind the scenes.

Bud would be owned by ABISAB and MillerCoors would be owned by MolsonCoors.

In 2011, BMC was 75.3% of the US beer market. The antitrust people wont allow that under 1 ownership.

Does this mean that Bud will be triple hopped and available in a vortex bottle? Or will Miller and Coors be beechwood aged? It may be too confusing for the average BMC drinker. Let them stay as they are.

    Link?

Not saying it is wrong, just that what you say is the exact opposite of what is happening where I am.

Miller's had a craft division for years. Their Plank Road Brewery division has brought us classics like Icehouse and the near obscure Red Dog. How quickly we forget....
