I only drink my beers out of ancient alien skulls that I've turned into coffee mugs. Also called a Tulip.

a glass like that suits a lot of beers actually. I like plain glasses, however, forget that swirl.

I have drunk the same beers from different style glasses to see if there would result a difference in taste (I was extremely skeptical), but I found the same brew is more enjoyable or less depending on the style (so, I will henceforth stick to snifters for my Russian Imperials and my American Doubles).
The only style I have so far drunk from an over-sized wine glass (red wine style) is a wheat wine, which seemed to enhance the experience; I say that because the other night I meant to open a Russian Imperial, and so poured into a snifter, but it turned out to be a wheat wine (which turned to be somewhat less enjoyable than the time I had used the over-sized wine glass).

Totally agree. The stemless red wine glass is perfect for big, chocolaty stouts as it's big enough so that your nose is inside the glass as you drink, allowing the aromas to intensify the flavor.

At parties where the wine table is lined with a variety of different glasses, and the beer corner has only a small stack of those red plastic cups (with the expectation that most beer drinkers will drink directly from the bottle anyway), I always drink from a large wine glass.

Yes. Without a doubt you are weird. I also think that $30 is too much to pay for a wine glass. But Wayne's World at 2 in the morning? Very weird.

Drinking beer from a wine glass, however, is more or less normal.

No man, I love it. My wife drinks very nice New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc out of an old glass that I had as a child- the last remaining piece of a set of world cities and countries from my Mom- but it is Portugal. No shit!

    I'm curious:

Why did you think it would feel weird?

Also, if it didn't feel weird, why won't you be doing it more often?

I usually drink beer from wine glasses at my parents' house, because they have no beer glasses. At home, I have used a red wine glass before, usually when I have wine with dinner and then want some beer but not another dirty glass. I've found that hoppy ales drink really nicely out of a red wine glass, as the glass concentrates the aroma and gives you that really nice hop punch. They also work well for stronger ales, so I don't discount them as a good all-purpose beer glass. The only real downside is they aren't designed to properly create or disperse head, so the texture may be a bit off, but that's not a big deal with less carbonated ales, or ones with poor head retention. For something like a tripel or saison that is more carbonated, a white wine glass can do nicely in a pinch.

Drinking beer out of something with a long stem seems a bit weird. I think I wont do it often because I do have some tulips and if I didnt then maybe I'd use wine glasses then.

Often. A white wine glass is generally my preferred glass at home for IPAs.

My favorites are a set of glasses labeled as margarita glasses but they're really just globe-style glassed with the lip turned outward. They're like a cross between a snifter and the Sam Adams glasses.

I have once when the brewer at Dogfish Head recommended drinking the 120 min IPA from a wine glass in the video on their website. Seemed to work well.

I have stemless wine glasses that work well for most things. In fact, gave my wife the business for drinking a Rubaeus out of the bottle on Friday night. She even agreed (grudgingly) that the wine glass improved the perception of the beah... Those pricey WalMart wine glasses have to justify their existence somehow
