Will Braggots ever become more popular?

Recently had Rogues Marionberry Braggot and really enjoyed it. One of the few Rogue brews I've enjoyed

Throw it in a bourbon barrel and watch it explode.

Had a Funky Buddha braggot last night, it was pretty good actually if a bit on the sweeter side.

Braggots are supposed to be on the sweeter side. They are partly made from honey and are mixed with malty ales with very little to no hops. A bitter braggot would make no sense.

Yeah, it the reason I can't fully get behind this style, not a big mead fan.

I get that, that's where the ale portion is supposed to come in, to counteract some of that dryness.

It's an odd style that doesn't really fit into people's tastes nowadays.

Someone let Westbrook know they need to make a braggot to blow up the braggot market.

If breweries came out with more beers like Weyerbacher Sixteen then I'd buy them. It only got better after a couple of years in the cellar.

Today I went to my local brewery and boom! Braggots on the friggin menu. It had tapped out though, so I lost my chance for fresh Braggots. Next time.

Only if someone makes a Braggot IPA.

You laugh, but give it time. It will be a thing sooner or later.

I have only tried one. It was a home brewed Braggot. It was 18% and aged over 2 yrs. Absolutely delicious. I am not a fan of high alcohol beers either. I have never seen one other than that, but would up what I would pay for a bottle of beer if I could find some.

Meads are always dry? Who knew.

Meads can be dry, or very sweet.

Bayou Teche makes a solid one aged in bourbon barrels - Miel Sauvage. I'd be happy to trade

A lot of meads are dry and if someone who is a beer drinker doesn't like mead my first thought is that they probably had a dry mead since that's pretty darn far away from beer.

    Sorry oh lord of definitions.

Meads can be dry, sweet or semi-sweet. Braggot is part ale and part mead.

Love meads, but only a handful of breweries and home brewers make braggot around here and I have enjoyed every one I could get. Arizona does produce a lot of distinct honey and the price is not too expensive in volume for it.

Having made a few meads over the years, I thought it was a little broad in defining meads as dry. The brag got could be made from a dry ale and a sack mead, and turn out sweet.

I've only had a couple, Surly 3 and - just last night - Jackie O's. Both were phenomenal, I wish there were more out there!

I somewhat unintentionally sat on one of these for a few years and WOW was that good.
