    HOW TO PLAY:

    a. General. The objective of the Promotion is to accumulate the most points by correctly selecting which two (2) teams will advance out of each of the eight (8) groups and then selecting the "winning pick" for each of the fifteen (15) knockout stage match-ups associated with the Tournament. Note the 3rd Place match (i.e., the consolation game) is NOT included in the Scoring.

    b. How to make your selections. You may enter your selections online by following the instructions in the How to Play section of the Promotion.

    c. Scoring. A correct pick is scored as such:

    • Group Stage: 1 point per correct pick
    • Group Stage Bonus: 1 point per pick if team is in correct slot
    • Round of 16: 2 points per correct pick
    • Round of 16 Bonus: 2 points per pick if team is in correct slot
    • Quarterfinals: 4 points per correct pick
    • Quarterfinals Bonus: 4 points per pick if team is in correct slot
    • Semifinals: 16 points per pick
    • Final: 32 points per pick
    Maximum Points Breakdown:

Total Max Possible Points = 160

    • Group Stage: 32 points
    • Round of 16: 32 points
    • Quarterfinals: 32 points
    • Semifinals: 32 points
    • Final: 32 points

To answer @grze question, I guess everyone still has a chance...maybe not those who picked Spain to win it all :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the time to delete his entry is near, before he starts climbing and shows up and/or fades and doesn't send a box. Just my $0.02.

Yeah I agree, deciding to claim your bracket only if it's doing well is not cool; not saying he's doing this but I think the end of the group round should be the absolute latest point-of-no-return, if we aren't already past it.

Can you also repost the final winning box counts? I'm too lazy to go through the whole thread and figure out what the last suggested combination was, and we now (once the unidentified man is gone) have a definite number of participants.

Yes, I will post the winners breakdown again. My internal deadline for identifying the person was the end of the group stage, so we all seem to be on the same page. I have two feelers out via BM trying to hunt down this mysterious man, so I'm going to give it until the end of the day tomorrow.

Payouts, 75 members, 12 win boxes (under the proposed spread the wealth plan) (this is assuming #76 will have to be deleted from the group)

    1st - 17
    2nd - 11
    3rd - 8
    4th - 6
    5th - 5
    6th - 5
    7th - 3
    8th - 3
    9th - 2
    10th-12th - 1

Awesome, I love that so many people get boxes. (speaking of, can we just end it right now while I'm in 6th place? )

For real though, I'm a bit ******ed when it comes to these bracket challenges, can you spend 3 seconds and outline how points are awarded? Or at the very least, how many points for the overall winner, and how many total points are possible? (I'm trying to figure out my odds of still being competitive at the end, leaving the group round in good psition but having picked Spain to win it all)

Just scroll up a little. I asked about the same thing and Rotero24 helped with a clean explanation

The tricky part of this bracket versus an NCAA bracket (and we may not have many ties as a result) that in the knockout you're placed based on performance. so if you picked the right two teams in the wrong order, you only get half credit for those teams for the rest of the bracket where they're in the wrong bracket position.

This is starting to get really fun as you can analyze who needs to win/lose in the remaining group stages for your teams to make it.

Thanks! I should have known this was already in the thread.
I wish I had the time to dive into that... would make the remaining group games a lot of fun to watch... alas, I'll probably just sit them out and wait to see what my bracket looks like coming out of it, and how far I've dropped accordingly.

It all depends on who ends up winning, if Argentina, Germany or Brazil wins, you are screwed. If anyone else wins, it's kind of wide open.
