I would think any HT you have your hands on is probably fresh, why age it, and who could resist? Most just drink it pretty quickly.

Not aging it but I have two different batches and would like to have easy way to know which is which. Will just keep in sep parts of fridge but was just wondering if they did date and I was missing it.

You could also mark one batch with a marker, tape, sticker or some other method like scratching an "X" in the lid or moving the "ring" section of poptop 90 ° or 180 °, etc.

Sharpie the week it was picked up in on the can, or just label them A and B.

from what I understand, any Heady you get a hold of is likely under a month old.

I'll keep em marked but running low on my first batch anyway.. I do find it slightly strange that they wouldn't date the cans but I see the point.. with weekly releases and sell outs folks know when they bought it.. I guess the trade community however could get dooped into thinking it's fresh when it is older... I drink mine except for a rare trade right after purchase so to me the date is not hugely important.. but I know BAs are big on IPA bottling/canning dates so surprised a bit that HT isn't labeled.

PS... as soon as I posted the thread.. I realized where some of the responses were going to go..LOL...

    In general this is true.

HOWEVER, with all the whale hunting these days and hoarding - many come home from their VT trip with more Heady than they can drink "fresh" and sometimes can't trade it quickly enough (since asking too much). This is where "old" Heady actually shows up for trade. I also doubt these Heady-extortionist would care to admit they've been sitting on them for a few months since they won't be caught. Sad day when Heady sits around. *I have seen a few honest chaps disclose "older" HT.

That's interesting. I heard that the brewer's preferred age on it is about 10 weeks. I couldn't say from my own experience, since I've never been able to hold onto any that long, and it's too hard for me to get to experiment :grinning:

Wait what? Stores that have people mule Heady in, and then re sell it? Is that even legal?

I think it depends on the city/state. I think Washington,DC has a lack of laws (or just really easy ones). I think if you can drag it to DC, you can sell it.

And I'm pretty sure it isn't a federal law. Seeing that the federal government left regulation of alcholic beverages up to the states after prohibition, it seems incongruous that there would be a federal law dictating that every bottle or can of beer has to have a date on it. In fact, if you check the fresh beer website, there are many breweries that do not date. Are all of them breaking a law? I seriously doubt it.

Not even in a dream. That's why you pay a premium if you find it outside the distro area.

And it takes a big man to admit it. As a reward, have a beer [freshness dated, of course]

That's beyond the current user capabilities. You can alsways BM one (or more) of the staff and ask to have it changed or use the report feature to ask for a correction.
