It's awesome that these are avaiable locally for you man! I think I liked Brewtus more thus far... I"ll crush the Rise Up later this week and let you know about that one too... and of course, thanks again for sharing all these awesome beers with me!

I absolutely loved the Willoughby PB Cup Cofee Porter, and luckily for me the guys I was sharing with preferred other stuff, so there was more for me (plus some left for today). I was also able to pick up Sweet Baby Jesus in New Jersey last week, and am looking forward to seeing how they compare (along with Belching Beaver PB Milk Stout from this BIF).

I've never seen any of those three Maryland stouts up by me, but will watch for them (either up here or down there).

 

I think you could probably find Siren Noire, although it is a winter-ish release. Monocacy Brewing (Brewtus) and Evolution (Rise Up) have a very limited distribution. You can only find Monocacy in a handful of stores in Maryland outside the Frederick area. They are one of my two favorite up and coming breweries (along with Burley Oak). Anyway, didn't want you looking for beers not available in your area.

 

Is that where Monocacy is from? I happened upon a rye beer of theirs in a mixed case at my distributor that I liked.


after looking it up it's Riot Rye, its BA score and the score I gave it match at a 4.0

 

If you are doing a peanut butter porter compare, you should try to grab Evil Genius Purple Monkey Dishwasher, too. You can find it in Jersey or PA.

 

I've got one of those in the fridge, haven't tried it yet... I also just picked up one of Terrapin's attempt at it, so I'm curious to see how those measure up to SBJ or Big Gruesome.

edit: Terrapin's is Liquid Bliss, had to look up the name.

 

Thanks. I wasn't consciously trying to do a compare, just somehow ended up with a nice bunch of choices. And I have a pretty good selection of bottle shops and other sources either near home or work so might get lucky. And will be down in Maryland later this summer.

Just wanted to post some beer pr0n after my beer haul today, deciding to rearrange my beer collection, and pouring myself a beer while I work:

 

Hey mid Atlantic folks: heading to NYC for a few days starting tomorrow. Planning to hit Tørst, blind tiger and spuyten duyvil. Any other spots you would recommend?

 

Picked up some Modern Times Oneida (bottles), what a nice summer beer.

 

Torst a second time... only place I've been in Brooklyn but hot damn was it an awesome tap/bottle list.

 

I had a get together today. It's funny that I had to make a special trip to the store to get some Busch Light so people had something to drink. My beer fridge is loaded right now and everyone thinks they are all "nasty". Other than the Westbrook Gose I drank and the Shorts Locals Light my wife drank, all the empties were Busch. The only other craft beer drinker was my neighbor who is a doctor and he was on call so i was pretty lonely. Just finished an Enjoy By and thinking about what's going to be my night cap. I don't think he is on call for the 4th so fireworks and beer are on the menu.

 

That's terrible.

You totally should have made them bring their own Busch.

 

And that my friends is why craft beer will never take down the big boys. There will always be a market for BMC.

The problem is that it's wasn't friends, it was family. It was a bday party for my son. The majority of my friends are into craft beer at least a little.

 

My family is at least a little experimental. Blue Moon, Hoegaarden, Sam Adam varieties, etc are usually available beside the BMC.

 

I've heard from everyone except raulazzer. I've put together the majority of the targets so I'll send out the targets Sunday evening/Monday morning.
