So what happens to all the beer pulled from the shelves? Drain pour? Employee appreciation party? That's what I want to know :slight_frown:

Fountain of Berliner Youth, that's the way I would do it.

Glad I was able to grab a couple cases before this happened. I've have not had any problems with any bottles so far.

Odd that there's no mention of this on their FB page

Maybe shoot an epic YouTube video of the bottles foaming all over ala the Mentos and Diet Coke experiment...

Well, that's a shame, I was going to pick up another 4 pack in a week or two. This year's Berliner is awesome!

Haven't had any issues with this yet, but I guess I'll polish off the two I have left over the weekend to be safe.

I did send one as an extra to Canada, and the box didn't make it... I wonder if it exploded!

O'so pulled old Dank and Lup Max from the shelves.. then sold it at the brewery, cut-rate.

will NG do the same with the Berliner?? :stuck_out_tongue:leasesayyes:

Just cracked a Berliner the other day and it was super carbed, still tasted fine though.

Just about through my second case and no bottle bombs or outrageous carb. Was hoping to pick up another case this weekend, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

This is a shame as it is an excellent tasting beer. Hope they make another batch soon

I sent out two boxes this week and both had berliner in them, both showed up as damaged in transit. I don't know the final result on the second box yet but the first one was repacked by fedex (minus 2 bottles of berliner & 2 other casualties) and sent on to its destination in a box that smelled horribly of hot beer.

It wasn't my best packing job but it's seems like a heck of a coincidence otherwise and I'm guessing the bottles exploded. That would also explain how so many bottles were damaged and how it managed to rip through the bubble wrap and garbage bag.

I flew to Denver with a couple bottles with no issues.

Also I went to NG today. They pulled it there and when I asked about the recall the guy said "where'd you hear that?" Before confirming it was true. He said that he hasn't seen or heard any issues but Dan wanted to be safer than sorry.

I agree with many of you guys that it's a shame. It's a great batch and is drinking great right now.

Anyone know any places where it's still on the shelf between Chicago and Milwaukee (or Kenosha)?

Very odd. No mention on FB or on their website. Usually breweries are very upfront about recalls, especially when customers have bottles that might explode. Could be a legal reason for not putting an announcement out there? Or maybe they just need to get the wording right?

I guess a brewery can recall a beer for any reason. I could see them not wanting to mention it if it were due to the quality of the beer. But in this case, the beer tastes great- it's just moderately dangerous and messy.

Yeah, it sucks, I really like this beer a lot! By the way, I sent a 4-pack to California with no issues, arrived yesterday. Not sure how much that means but just wanted to share.

Yeah, my bottles all survived, but were extremely foamy. I just poured slowly. Sounds like a carbonation control issue- possible that there was not an equal distribution of primer for whatever bottle conditioning they wanted to do.

Funny thing about NG- their labels often say things like "100% bottle fermented" or "cask conditioned ale" and "naturally cloudy" due to yeast remaining in the bottle. But on the hard hat tour, they showed us their centrifuge filtration system- so, for Spotted Cow, it is "cask conditioned" in a tank, and then spun through the filtration system until a tiny bit of cloudiness remains.

Dancing Man, which is labeled as "100% bottle fermented" confuses me, too. I've never heard of a beer being fermented completely in the bottle- you would have to pour wort and yeast directly into each bottle, complete with a tube and airlock...

Now, I'm totally willing to overlook these items because I love New Glarus and their beer is incredible. I just thought it was funny to see them throw those terms around. Berliner Weiss also boasts bottler fermentation, though it doesn't say 100%.

    Just being nit-picky.

I don't think the "re-call" message has gotten out to all shops. Just grabbed a 4-pack at Pick 'n Save. Might have been the last one they had? Seems like the big chains especially would follow any and all re-calls to the t. I'm wondering- if it hasn't gotten out to the general public in a press release, how has the re-call gotten to the shops? Via distributors?

In any case, I'm happy to have a few more bottles to enjoy, even if I have to open them over the sink.

Any truth to the rumor Phantom Fireworks is buying up all the remaining Berliner Weiss stock for their "Boom goes your fireworks, boom goes your beer' July 4th promotion? I kid, I kid. Sorry to hear about the recall.

I've got my bottles inside a plastic bag in the fridge, just in case!
