Not a huge fan of Hop Ottin...and I'm surprised that Sculpin was #3, not #1. Agreed with above, take HopDevil and Rebel off the list and replace with Ranger IPA and Blind Pig.

How do you differentiate between rank 14 and rank 13....
Ranking 14 IPAs in order from best to worst seems like a fool's errand.

Is it that easy? Long list of beers I want to try but don't have access to "on the way" :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm ok with Two Hearted being left off the list. While it's good, I think that it's overrated. I would say that it's the centennial hops, but I'd prefer Founders Centennial IPA over Bell's Two Hearted.

As far as the writer's list, I think that it's spot on for IPAs that are readily available. However, you could easily make a case that Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale is widely distributed enough (though seasonal) to be up near the top of this list.

AleSmith IPA could be in there somewhere, as I believe they do distribute in Massachusetts. But the fact that the author chose only beers that are distributed in his home state makes this list kind of useless; I imagine we all have access to better IPAs than what's on this list. I know I do.

How did West Coast, or Modus Hoperandi not make that list. Harpoon over DFH60, I must not know shit about IPA drinking.

I don't have access to 7 of the 14 beers listed and only 3 of those 7, I can actually get my hands on, (i.e. Stone IPA, Great Divide Titan and Sierra Nevada Torpedo) I would actually drink again.

Love the variance in the list, and love almost every one they picked. Union Jack, Sculpin, Centennial, Hop Devil, and Stone IPA would probably be my top 5 (in that order).

Solid list for widely available ipas and way better than half the shit from sites like thrillist. I have minor issues with the list such as stone ipa not being boozy at all and titan should not be #2, BUT now im just being nitpicky. And I'd rather see a realistic list like this where most people can honestly judge it as opposed to ratebeer or BA's where half the ipa are very limited.

There's nothing here there hasn't been done before. His "methodology" was about picking which beers to compare, not the process by which he compared them, and even then he has a glaring omission in Finest Kind.

For my part, I agree with the list as written only slightly more than I would were it completely backwards. My top spots would be Two-Hearted, Blind Pig, Hop Rod Rye, Finest Kind, and Stone. Never understood the love for Sculpin and Union Jack.

I'm not familiar with Dong IPA, but Sudwerk did a collabartion double IPA called Pinus that might be right up your alley!

Of course I've been wrong before, but the only IPA I know of like that is Pliny the Younger, and it's not even an IPA...
