It is usually a good time there. I would not recommend going during peak hours because it gets a little hectic in there especially now that the full patio is open. They also seem to have a lot of new people there who are still getting the hang of things and I have had a few hiccups with getting the right food lately. Their tap selection is always pretty solid but if something real crazy comes in it will be gone fast. Recently I have found Capers to have better prices on drinks (and almost always something really cool from Jackie O's) but the food is not the same quality as Swig.

Yeah they were fairly busy and I'm pretty sure our waitress was new as well. I'll definitely have to try Capers some time though I've never been there. Thanks for the heads up!

Has anyone here gone to or going to, the craft at the Quarry at Centennial terrace Friday? I am and I was just wondering what to expect.

I'd like to go and meet some Toledo-area BAs, but I'll be out of town this weekend. Maumee Bay tweeted that they'll have BA Total Eclipse; a DIPA with chinook, galaxy, and mosaic hops; a russian imperial stout; cherry stout; and pineapple pale ale.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure I went to a beer fest at the Quarry back in 2011, but it may have been run by a different organization (the NWO Hopheads facebook page says this is the third annual fest). It was a good time with lots of selections, but back then I wasn't quite as obsessed with craft beer as I am now.

I did see that tweet, I'm definitely excited to try the BA Total Eclipse.

Who will be he first Toledo brewery to release a commemorative green brew to immortalize the blue-green algae bloom that shut down the water system last week? Great Lakes did it with blackout stout to mark the big eastern US blackout of 2003. I hope they aren't depending on using water from western Lake Erie (or the Toledo muni water system) for a while.

Anyone know if/when Black Butte XXVI will make an appearance around Toledo?

I thought they did a good job expanding the selections last year and hope there is even more this year. Hopefully they will get some food vendors instead of just the concession food. As mentioned above MBBCO is bringing some good beers.

^Is there a lineup posted for this anywhere?

A quick google query yielded nothing.

Someone told me to check out Gradkowsky's in Toledo. They don't list their beer selection on their menu. Anyone have an opinion?

I have heard good things, I couldn't tell you first hand though.

For anyone wondering, I picked up Black Butte XXVI at Andersons on Talmadge today for $14.99. They had them in the cooler section.

    Hey-yo....

I'm heading to Akron/Canton area for a job, and have some flexibility in where I can stay and eat. Is it pretty much Hoppin Frog in those parts, or anything else you recommend?

Giant Eagle Market District in Green is good for local six packs.

Check out Portage Lakes Brewing (NOT a brewery) for a strong, though pricey, tap list. You may luck into a decent bottle or two as well. They had Rivertown Pear Lambic and Alpha King on tap about a week ago.

Lastly, make the 15 minute trek to Lizardville in Copley. You will not be disappointed. If you do head there, make sure to stop in at Ray's on Ghent Rd. for a Columbus Bodhi. They plan to have it available at all times.

Any word on Maumee Bay Brewing's Octoberfest-not the beer, but the outdoor pig roast. It's usually within the first several Sundays in September. I can't find anything on the internet, other than bottles are now available. Anyone got the info?

Any one know if any Hop JuJu kegs will be making it out to the Toledo area? I love that beer.

The Andersons on Talmadge had 6-packs of Ithaca Brewing's Flower Power today. Really good stuff, and pretty fresh too (8.27 bottling date).

Haven't seen this one in Toledo before.

The Beer and Wine Cave used to have it in every once in a while, but it used to be pretty hard to come by. It'll be nice if it's in Toledo for good now.
