What's a grocery store? By me, they're called supermarkets.

I live in the San Fernando Valley which encompasses 260 square miles and 1.8 million people. This area is served by a Bud brewery, a big local craft brewery (Golden Road), three chain breweries (BJ's, Gordon Biersch and Karl Strauss) and two small craft breweries (only opened this year!).

Now, what could improve this scene?

There is news that no less than 4 more small breweries will be opening either by the end of the year or early next year.

Still... 1.8 million people, 260 square miles, currently 3 legit craft breweries (only one of which packages for off-site sale)... seriously, let's get some breweries going here!

Living in the keys I regularly drive 1.5 hours to Miami for beer. In the same time you could be at CCB.

Yup and I made the trip last Friday night. But that still doesnt help with the lack of quality breweries in Orlando.

In my circle we closely rely on word of mouth to know where we can get what beers on tap and when. Though, our sources are almost always originally from social media outlets. I don't think we would have two licks of an idea of what was going on at our local spots if it weren't for Facebook and the Twitter thing (I still don't know what the hell it is). I don't know how you manage bro.

I just go to the bars and breweries, there'll always be something I like on tap.

There used to be much lower prices. Then there was this thing called the hop shortage of 2007, and six pack prices went up $2-4. Hop prices went back down in 2008, but beer prices didn't. I guess breweries realized that they could squeeze more money out of their costumers.

I believe if and when they start bottling/canning they will blow up real big. I mean 2 of our more Mediocre Breweries started out of state distribution and people from what I understand are drinking them up imagine the stir AZWBC WOULD cause just with more availability

Although I am currently away from my native beer scene, Salt Lake city, Utah, there are a couple things that would improve the beer scene. Among those things, I will mention one. The uninformed Utah lawmakers won't allow any beer above 4% abv to be served on draught in any pubs/
Restaurants. Granted, Utah's craft scene has improved dramatically regardless of these strange laws. However, the fact that beer above 4% can't be served on draught really does craft beer enthusiasts a disservice. Might I add, Utah could perhaps gain more tax revenue by allowing outside brewers to export their higher abv % draught beer into the state of Utah. (I am not an expert on this subject by any means.) Point being, I want to enter a pub and have the choice between a mild 4% ale on draught, or a higher 5-8 % abv ale, too. Hopefully some day in Utah these laws will change. This would really improve the local scene, and not to mention the tourism sector would also improve. The skiiers and outdoor enthusiasts would be pleased to have a regular beer on tap in Utah after a day on the slopes or a hike in the canyons, IMO.
I am happy to be going home this week, (will be there for 6 weeks) and partake in the great beer America has to offer. These Chinese shitty lagers are getting old.
