Another vote for Sunshine, though I prefer it from the can - IMO canned vs. bottled are two different beers. Also, I just had the pils from Coney Island Brewing and it was shockingly good. Prima and Stoudts are awesome as well. Cant go wrong with a PA Pils!

After seeing some mentions of Mama's Lil Yella Pils on here, it's worth mentioning that OB has tweaked that beer a bit over the years. It used to follow the Urquell mode, diacetyl and all, but it's much cleaner and more neutral now. After mentioning that I was never much of a fan before, the folks at OB said they had tweaked it and dialed it in much better than when it first hit. If you haven't tried it lately, give it another go.

Since people are throwing all types of names out there, many of which the OP has no access to, I will second the Santa Fe Freestyle Pilsner and put in a good word for the excellent Marble Pilsner out of Albuquerque.

I agree with the Short's Pontius Road Pilsner. Haven't had the one from Griffin Claw.

Can you honestly recommend it? Based on the first couple of times I tried it (years ago), it would require some serious "tweaking" to get anywhere close to being worth the $10 per six pack they charge around here.

Lagunitas Pils at 4.1 seems to be the winning Czech Pilsner in my tasting history.
Bohemia and Trumer are the highest rated German style Pilsners for me.

I don't like pilsners as a rule, so I haven't tried many compared to styles I do like. I'm sure there are many, many excellent pilsners on "the continent" that either don't make their way over to the USA or don't travel well.

Hmmmm. Since I know you have an affinity for the style and high standards, probably not
At the same time, I think it has a place for someone who might not be that familiar with decent lagers and is looking for a solid easy drinker. I'd put it in the same grouping I would something like Session, Blue Ski, California Lager, and Shift.
After drinking an early test version which was actually a spot-on Urquell clone and one I liked, it has had some ups and downs. I honestly disliked it for a while. Now I'd qualify it as being pretty decent.

One that I haven't seen mentioned here is Sam Adams Noble Pils. Damn tasty beer, IMO. Possibly the best they've ever done. Also partial here to Pivo and Prima.

I have thus far only seen one vote for Two Roads Ole' Factory Pils, so I am gong there. Honorable mention to Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella' Pils.

Depends on whether you prefer traditional German/Czech style pilseners or modern American versions.

Live Oak Pilz in Texas is one of the best German style pils on the market, IMHO.

I tried Mikkeller Keeper this weekend, and I was pleasently surprised. Perfect beer for a summer cookout.

True, but not to the extent of what usually passes for "awesome" around here. Not to mention the noble hop character being so much different than the usual U.S. Pac Northwest hop characters. And the malt will be present. So many beers labeled as Pilsner have such a lack of malt character that they're disappointing -- to me, anyway.

That may be true for a lot of people on BA, but I'm not going to let them keep me from calling a hoppy beer hoppy :grinning:.
To quote Dave Miller in The Complete Handbook of Home Brewing: "If lager makes a clear statement, what pilsner says is 'hops!'. Pilsner Urquell says Saaz in letters 20 feet high."

That would be a bit odd given that Live Oak's is modeled on the Czech-style pils
