Just a simple question (hopefully). Is the '09 BCBS Bomber wanted because of its novelty size or because of it's vintage/how it has aged? Are 12oz 09 bottles equally as wanted?

Yes. It is considered more desirable because of its larger size, and therefore how it has aged. Generally speaking, the larger volume the bottle, the better it ages. This has to do with the volume of liquid vs. the amount of oxygen in the bottle.

No. For the reasons stated above. They're still desirable for verticals and simply due to the fact that they're vintage, but the 2009 bombers are much more sought-after due to the size.

I hear that the 09 Bombers are drinking beautifully right now, and people need them right now to complete verticals.

I thought the 09 I had the best bcbs I've ever had. I have a few 2008 in the fridge, have had multiples before and 09 was just a bit better IMO, where the 07 was clearly fading and oxidized.

Yup. I had my last one a few months ago and it tasted flawless. I honestly wish they still made bombers of the regular bourbon county just to compare to the 09 vintage.

This exactly. 2009 BCBS has been my favorite vintage out of 2007-2013. 2009 vintage drank fantastic fresh and every cellared bottle that I have drank has been fantastic as well. I dont really care if its a bomber or a 12oz bottle. The 2009 vintage is by far the best! 2008 BCBS wasnt that good as 2009 BCBS(yes I know that I am going against most peoples opinion here).

A lot of the 2009 bombers have been cellared perfectly by Goose themselves...

The 09' vintage also is also the bases stout that what went into Pappy barrels to produce rare if im not mistaken.

Correct. BCBS was put into two types of barrels in 2008:

Heaven Hill barrels (aged one year and released as 2009 BCBS)
23-year PVW barrels (aged two years and released in 2010 as Rare).

Regular BCBS is aged for a year? I thought it was 4-5 months.

A fair number of '09 bombers were handed out to attendees at GI's Black Friday event last year - it's not out of the realm of possibility that people took note of this, and attempted to trade for them knowing there was a small amount of new supply out there.

And agree with other posters. It's drinking fantastic now.

I wonder how much GI has of these bombers. During ChicagoCBW 2014, Whole Foods had a couple of cases (give our take a few bottles since they were limited) of the bombers, selling them for a crazy price of 15 dollars. I believe they had those cases for a couple of months in prep for the release party.

Another whole foods got a case of Cherry Rye a few months ago. It was a mispick but the rep said to keep it. needless to say, that case was sold fast, i didn't jump on it though.
