Hey guys, have a friend visiting Cape May from July 21-28 and was looking for suggestions of breweries and bottle shops to visit. I did some research, sounds like Carton Brewing, and Kane Brewing are places to visit? Not sure if they are near Cape May or what the deal is. Anyways, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And any good bottle shops to get stuff we can't get in Florida. Thanks in advance!
I live in Cape May, visit the Cape May Brewery, good place, no food served. Bottle shops, nothing very special down here and all the local places are pretty picked clean. Sunset Liquors in West Cape May is a decent bottle, wine and beer shop, Collier's in Cape May another good beer store but small selection.
Well, there's Cape May Brewing and, nearby, Glasstown and Tuckahoe. Tried to link to their BA pages, but the links keep disappearing every time I added a new one. Check http://www.beeradvocate.com/place/list/?start=0&c_id=US&s_id=NJ&brewery=Y&sort=name Also, not on BA - Pinelands in Little Egg Harbor.
That is a great idea although he probably would be better off hitting the brewpub in Rehoboth over the Brewery in Milton as it's a lot closer to where the ferry lets you off in Lewes.
What's that liquor store in Rio Grande? Canal's? Joe Canal's? They have a decent selection of bottles and are not really located out of the way.
It's a Joe Canal's and it's an OK option that's easy to get to. Definitely check dates/don't buy things without a date there, though. I've seen/got burned by old stock.
I was at Jpe Canals yesterday, mainly stop in once a week, while the locals pick out the good stuff, even the average stuff now is GONE. Their craft beer isle in the fall, winter and spring is nice and fully stocked, now it looks like some tourist was like oh look they still have XXXX beer in stock and buys it all. Not saying I wouldn't stop there, but you'll find treasures and rare stuff in the off season. Now your just going to get whatever is fully stocked all over NJ.
Some of their rarer stuff they don't put on the shelves, you have to ask for it. A lot of people reserve stuff there and never pick it. So some random day they will clean out their store room and their will be the chase beer from March sitting on the shelf in May. Around Christmas time again, they clear out their store room and all kinds of stuff from months ago pops up, not fresh versions.
